We've also invaded all "their" towns, counties and suburbs, and turned all their Massive lads fans in these areas into gravy stained mags. This happened mostly in 1992.

The Premier League is objectively appraised as being shit quality again over there. Three promoted teams from their division relegated bar the formalities in February shit.

All three promoted teams lost at home conceding 4 goals each this weekend. Sobering for any promotion chasers.

Sobering indeed.

Why does Sunderland have such high alcohol deaths?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/clyjv38q978o

Could their shite team have anything to do with it?

We also control the North Sea like some kind of football Poseidon. Many Mackems now rest in Maggy Jones’ locker.

As a serious point though, I sometimes think of that Makem YewTewber and his trips round to his pal Wency's before they go to the match

They're middle to old age blokes sat in a garden shed downing ale and necking Sambewca shots in the mid to late morning, just to go and watch a game of football

Am sure there's people doing similar amongst our support. And as that article points out, alcohol deaths are a massive problem for the North East region, not just Sunderland

For me those Makems on YewTewb definitely emphasised the potentially dangerous relationship between watching football and alcohol / alcoholism

We all tussle with the black dog

Everybody around here just drinks

Just had a quick nosy on RTG and the thread about sharing their shithole ground is STILL going. Started on the 6th of Jan and currently has over 1200 comments. Comforting themselves with the possibility/dream we'll be sold. No work on training ground seems to point to a loss of interest from PIF.  And we're the delusional ones. 🤦‍♂️🤷😆😄😅

In constant denial or should I say fear. Obviously ignoring that our Chairman is currently (or was) over here to progress the stadium/training ground plans

that report seems a bleak to thing to milk a chuckle out of, not least if you actually read the thing:

This line isn't great, either:

the city's high rates of deprivation played a key role

Call me a humourless old fucker, but I can't bring myself to laugh at poverty-driven deaths from alcohol.  It is fucking awful and its not exactly as if Newcastle is a utopia of full employment with all earning more than a living wage.  The NE is desperately poor in relation to most of the UK, the result of neglect and the (sometimes deliberate) destruction of local industry.  All are in the same bucket.

More than happy to laugh at their football team and their delusions of grandeur, mind.

Mind, I do agree with one of the posters talking about Sheff Utd being a potentially more winnable game for them than Burnley.  I reckon Burnley would be a nightmare to face in a playoff - they’re really tough to beat (at that level) and are good at the back.

They'd become at least the 31st club from England to have played more games in Europe than Sunderland if that happened.

Would love to know what the equivalent of that is in other countries for perspective....and frankly a laugh

Only 9 goals conceded all season in 34 games probably makes them better than just good, to be fair!

Spain have had 9 clubs play in Europe (I think), Italy not many more. England must be streets ahead in number of European representatives.

That can’t be right on Spain, surely? In the CL, rather than just Europe maybe?

Off the top of my head I’d go:

Barca

Real

Atleti

Bilbao

Villareal

Betis

Sociedad

Mallorca

Valencia

Deportivo

Celta Vigo
