Heard about this Vertu Trophy final over the weekend and wondered what the fuck it was. Turns out it's the EFL Trophy, which reminds me that because of this trophy, Sunderlands senior mens team have played a competitive match against our U21 side. Absolutely shocking that.

That has to be the lowest point in their history, regardless of what successes we enjoy.  It was absolutely embarrassing that it occurred (and hilarious in equal measure)

Having their rivals singing "Ben Dawson's black & white army".

Also the irony that their manager on the night is now at Newcastle in a similar capacity to what Dawson was here at one point.

Wonder what he's doing now, already left Leicester.

It was also the finest moment in the best UK comedy series since Peep Show - Sunlun til I die - watching them trying to make it into a derby, and adding the daft dramatic music over the top.  Fuck it, I’m going to watch it again tonight 😁

They were proper celebrating goals too, loving life they were. Took them until the second half to score.

I don't know who any of those 3 players are for us. Fake Matt Targett and Rolando Aarons? Says it all.

I get their delusion towards us. But to think that everyone outside of Liverpool and Arsenal are Championship quality

Funnily enough, as well as the PL being shite/Championship quality this year, their thread talking about Birmingham also notes that Leyg 1  is much easier these days "compared to when they were down there."

They should be privileged, everything's more difficult when you're everyone's cup final!

Apparently Peterborough have won it back to back and nobody has won it more. They're basically the Real Madrid of that cup.

'Peterborough's the Real Madrid of that cup you won, Sunluns a massive club'

*but the mackems did dethrone Salford City from holding it. Nobody should ever take that away from them.

Birmingham will be a nuisance to the promotion spots next season. You'd imagine at least 2 of the 3 going down will be at the top again. They need to get out of that league this year.

They'll be fucked next season if they don't go up. They comfort themselves with the fact the relegated sides will lose players. As if Southampton/Ipswich receiving millions for their players won't reinvest. 🤦

Their two biggest recent sales went to Southampton & Ipswich and flopped. Their best aren't good enough for these clubs and they flunked.

They'll be fucked anyway. If they do come up they'll have a very modest transfer budget thanks to PSR and all the accumulated loses they've made over the years, and most if that will be what they've got to pay for Le Fee. They'll be what Southampton are this season.

This should be fun 🍿

Now, Saudi Arabia appears poised to extend a similar lifeline to Nissan—not simply as a financial investment, but as part of a shared strategic vision for the future of electric mobility.

I’m not sure about Birmingham City to be honest. Some teams have steamrolled their way out of League One and flopped in the Championship, others have dogged their way out of it and done back to back promotions.

I actually think Sunderland will win the play offs. The only team there who I thought would beat them would be Burnley, and it looks like them and Leeds are getting promoted, both teams can actually secure it if they win their respective games on Good Friday and Bank holiday Monday.

So yeah, I think Sunderland will beat whoever they get in the semi’s over 2 legs, and likely play Sheffield United in the final, which I think they’ll win.
