Sid
Latest ( they start one every few weeks ) Sam Fender thread now at 500 posts about how little he matters to them and how he has faded into obscurity due to his links with NUFC . And his music is shite and they have never listened to it. Mind, they start threads like " what's the point of ( insert random football club here)" threads every few weeks, no idea what that is about. Some of the threads, "Is Sunderland a city of the future" and " Reasons to be proud of Sunderland " are equally tragic. Latest about miserable parts of the UK, talk about lack of self awareness. Wallsendmag
Honestly hope that when we play these down there next season there's loads of Fender flags alongside NUFC ones in the away end. I was flabbergasted at how much his last concerts at SJP had them rattled but they've somehow managed to take all that fewm and multiply it by at least 1,000! Genuinely don't know how a lot of them will get through these next 2 nights. The last concerts he did here, and then their many flags they took to Wembley with images of his head being chopped etc off gave a good insight to their level of derangement over him, but even so their reaction to Thursday nights concert still caught me a bit by surprise. I reckon a good 90% of Fender stuff I'm seeing on X is posted by them rather than people who were there!
Heron
They just clutch at straws because Sunderland is inferior to varying degrees across various metrics. They didn't have a metro system until we extended it there. They have a shitter beer. They have a smaller stadium in a shitter location. Albeit they get more concerts there because of the low roof in the underpass of the Milburn and Leazes end. The term "Mackem" was even a derogatory joke about their accent that they've now made it their own versus Geordie which has some actual historical reference. Newcastle is a thriving city by comparison to Sunderland and a lot of them even come to Newcastle for nights out and/or shop either here or in the Metro Centre - where no doubt they claim isn't Newcastle but is Gateshead. They literally have car manufacturing which is better than Newcastle but by there own Mackematics that's Washington not Sunderland despite having a SR postcode. It's alreet - I'm not gonna go down that path - they can claim it and have it. The football clubs themselves aren't that far apart historically - probably one of the more closely measured metrics. Both clubs have had similar successes over history but even then who can recall their nights versus Barcelona, PSG or winning a European Cup in the Fairs Cup. Even in this area we have won more. Their recent history of success is defined by them as the whole '6 in a row' despite not playing us for like 8 years in the league because of their own demise. Didn't they fail to beat us at home for like 20 years or some shit? Literally no one outside of the region will give a shit or know about that 6 in a row malarkey. Even the fewtureheads are shitter than Fender. Who else have they had? Brian Johnson (Geordie) was the lead singer for one of the most renowned Rock and Roll bands in the world and likewise Sting is renowned across the planet to albeit a lesser level. Even our more laughable celebs in the world of music with PJ and Duncan are two of the most famous tv presenters in the UK. Above all else they obsess about us. We are their permanent measure of success and to be better than Newcastle is their only desire. Personally, I couldn't give a shit about them. I rarely see SMB on Newcastle flags and see FTM on virtually everything associated to Sunderland. "Happy fathers day, brother David FTM" For all it's true "historically" in my life time, which is close on 60yrs now, we've been the bigger club/better team for nearly all of it. There's maybe been 2 or 3 seasons theyve been in a higher division and even then there wasn't much between the teams and I've never approached a Derby match accepting defeat and just hope8ng we dont get humiliated. If you’ve ever done the SJP rooftop tour, you can see the site of the hospital and the RVI, obviously, which took over maternity services. Both are within a mile of the ground. You can also see the QE in Gateshead about three miles away and probably other maternity hospitals. So there must be a fair percentage of the fanbase who were born within a mile, or sight, of the ground particularly pre 1993. 1966

Ed Sheeran has sponsored Ipswich’s shirt at a time when they were struggling to attract a sponsor and bring in money. He’s even bought a minority stake in them, and is shown watching them on TV camera’s anytime they are on TV. In saying that, my old uni flatmate who’s from Norwich will tell you that before he became famous he would play gigs and Norwich Uni’s campus wearing a Norwich shirt. The Gallagher brothers are very intertwined with Man City, heck Noel has designed a shirt for them. Yes that’s why I mentioned them funnily enough - as exceptions. Tho both them are very vocal in their support for their clubs they don’t make every gig about the club - which by the way isn’t a critisism of Sam fender I love that he does that. They also at the same time expect everyone in Spennymoor to be Sunderland fans. They also kick off at anyone in Durham who isn’t a Sunderland fan. For the record ladies and gentlemen, Durham is further away down the A190 from Sunderland, than North Shields is from Newcastle via the A1058. The hatred of Durham mags sums them up, it's about 15 mile to Sunderland from Durham and about 20 from Durham to Newcastle. Of course it's always going to be split so no idea why they think everyone born in Durham should be a die hard red and white . Guybrush
I've actually always been confused why South Shields gets lumped in as Sunderland territory. It's literally on the bank of the Tyne . We have a couple of people at work you live in Barnard Castle, and Newton Aycliffe. We have 2 main sites, one on the banks of the Tyne behind Royal Quays, and another on Sunderland docks. Both of them claim it’s quicker to get to the North Shields site than it is to the Sunderland site. A 3rd person who lives in Sacriston also claims it’s quicker to get to the North Shields site. It’s a part of Tyneside and the people from South Shields can call themselves Geordies alongside Sandancers. In terms of split, I’ve always felt that it was 40-40, with 20% swinging to whoever is doing well at the time, however I’ve lived a large portion of my life in North Shields, so what do I know? As soon as you get to Boldon and Cleadon, and even in South Shields as soon as you hit parts of Sunderland Road, you’ll see more Sunderland fans, however it’s not like Newcastle fans are a rarity in any of those locactions. I really don't understand their fascination with their 6 in a row trophy. Of course I don't begrudge them for enjoying winning against us, but they talk about it as if it was some golden era of mackem dominance. The wider context of those few seasons is that eventhough we were shit and on a death spiral towards eventual relegation, they were even worse for the majority of that time, they were a turd that wouldn't flush. Their MO was to get a new manager bounce in time for the derbies to beat a hapless Newcastle team and then scrape enough points against teams on the beach at the end of the season to stumble over the line. When they look back at that era, who are their heroes? Aside from Defoe, I can't imagine any of those players/managers from that period will be remembered fondly. The highlights of my Newcastle supporting life are winning the LC, qualifying for the CL multiple time and seeing us beat the likes of Barca, Juve & PSG, watching us go on deep runs in the Uefa Cup and seeing genuine world class talents wear our famous colours. Theirs will be what? A nonce scoring against us? A facist manager who they ended up hating sliding on his knees? All while they were scrapeing 17th in the league every season. Fine, let them have it. Also, I had no idea until very recently that we won 4 or 5 or 6 in a row against them or something like that since the turn of the century. I don't remember it ever being a big deal.
