Made more intelligent signings, have players with much more passion and pride in the shirt and can nick results even when not playing well. Deserved over a full season.

Our entire playing squad and staff should be absolutely fucking embarrassed to lose to them twice and finish below them. An utter disgrace and I don't want to hear about any "mitigating circumstances".

I don’t think our staff and players ‘get it’ honestly, when it comes to playing these and the intensity of the rivalry

If someone told me at the start of the season that we'd finish 7th and they'd finish 12th, I'd have been a tad disappointed as I was hoping we'd establish ourselves as a top 6 club and they would be comprehensively spat back down to the championship. If you then told me that it would be us in 12th and them in 7th I think I would've found myself a garden boules team to support for the season and save myself the pain.

Fair play to them, they've outperformed us by every metric this season and they've thoroughly deserved to finish 7th. They're not the prettiest team to watch, but they've got character and guys, there's a lot of lessons our spineless flannels could learn from them.

Fair play to them mind. Annoyed that we have failed to turn up against them twice obviously, but taking nothing away from their achievements.

Fair play to them in the end. Honestly thought after the derby they'd be on the beach and coast to 13th. Got better as the season went on.

We played a huge part in their Europa League qualification by being shit in both derby games. But fair play to them i think they derserve it

Remember when stupid twats wanted these up for ‘six easy points’?

We’ve got some proper arrogant thick cunts with memories like goldfish in the fanbase. We’ve had 10 years plus of them turning us over, you think we’d realise it’s their cup final even if it wasn’t ours.

The most terrifying bit for me is that I dont just see this as a one off for them, and a one off for us.

Looking at both clubs, theyre potentially ahead of us now, they'll definitely be looking forward to next season more than we will. Never thought this would happen this quick.

Worth noting that all these classy congratulations don’t amount to fuck all when it comes to them. As somebody from South Shields, I know what they do: They scuttle off like cowards when they’re shit and we’re good (which in my lifetime is most of the time), they don’t mention football. And, for all the gloom, we know that that will be the state of affairs again before too long. Just ask any gloating mackems if they bothered in league one- I know some did, but not a single one that I know

What ten years would that be then?

Most of our fans didn't worry about them getting promoted one bit.

True, but Europe is a different thing.

So I don't think no one answered, have the been to European competitions like ever?

2011 until we played them in the cup. We didn’t win in that period. Until the 3-0 I think we didn’t win from 2012 til 2024.

Come on man. Their best players can be bought off them, because they can't match wages that bigger clubs offer. It is more Leicester than Villa with them.

Fair play to them. Second season syndrome incoming, they'll have to sell a couple of players or take the UEFA £ hit next season with SCR. Big summer coming up.

Only once, after winning the FA Cup in 1973.

The last game being 2016 (a draw). The one after being that win.

Fair play to them they got more points than us, there is no point moaning about it.

It will be interesting to see how long they last in Europe and the impact on their league form.

Eddie and the players shit the bed against these, twice.

And cost us Europa League and the chance to gloat. Twice they showed more character and as a result are worthy of their place despite it paining me to say it.
