geordiesteve710
Can't see these going down next season at all. Depends on who invests and how wisely but I'd fully expect Hull and Ipswich to go straight back down and in all honesty Coventry will probably join them. So long as they don't get complacent they'll be able to have a decent crack at the Europa although I'd be surprised if they win it.
Geogaddi
They will go very far in that Europa league mind , you had two terrible Man United and Spurs teams in the final last year . This year Forest finished 16th and got to the semis and would have got to the final if they had avoided Villa. It's such a poor competition now in terms of quality I would be very suprised if they don't make the semis at the very least .

Quite a few big teams in it next season, it'll not be as easy as you make out: Bournemouth Milan Juventus Real Sociedad Celta Vigo TSG Hoffenheim Bayer Leverkusen Marseille Rennes AZ

Milan look an absolute disaster as are Marseille. Leverkusen I have no idea about, the rest I imagine the PL teams will be stronger than?

Viana
8 hours ago, SAFC L said: They didn’t really dominate the ball as such. They were constantly passing it around the back mainly and we let them do it. Even taking possession out of the equation and looking at shots on goal. It’s 21 shots to us and 8 shots to them - the majority of those shots actually coming before the red card too I believe. I also guess you could argue the extra workload and injuries etc is levelled off with the fact there’s no AFCON this year, so we won’t be losing 8 players or so. So I can see two schools of thought on this; they dominated the ball, or you let them have it. Either way, they had more of the possession and the teams who let you have it last season tended to do better than those who tried to play through you. I don't disagree on your point re: AFCON, but I will be interested to see if you shop abroad as much as you did last summer. You only signed one English-based player and he flopped quite hard. As I say, this is all new ground for the club so it's all quite intriguing to watch from the outside. Chances are you'll learn a lot of lessons, much like when we returned to the Champions League. 11 hours ago, hithere said: You make some fair points bar the Chelsea game. Possession was 44% v 56%, they hardly dominated the ball, in fact a lot of them looked like they didn’t want to be there. We were by far the better side up until the red card as well. Ok, I mean it's small potatoes. I could argue 56-44 with 10 men is dominating the ball, but it doesn't change the overall flow which is, you play your best stuff when working against the ball. You've had a good season and most people thought you'd do Chelsea over. Which you really had no right to expect, given the gulf in finances, but still did anyway. So enjoy it, at least you didn't turn up to make up the numbers. No complaints really with where you finished. Deserved. End.

Palace will be there too if they beat Vallecano tomorrow, and the Spaniards are 10/3 to win the match, Palace odds on, which kind of shows you the difference in strength between Premier League bottom half and other top leagues mid table. I usually don't like other English clubs having success, but if only to strengthen the field a bit further, I will be hoping they win tomorrow night. Strengthens the field and weakens their premier league campaign, or so the theory goes!
Elbel1
Sunderland picked up a ridiculous 22 points (2nd most in the league) from losing positions last season. Surely that wasn't their game plan and can't be sustainable going into next season. Likewise, we only gained 3 points from losing positions which I'm confident will be improved on immensely next season.

Decky
Since the weekend I've read in this thread that they're going to kick on and do very well next year, we're more likely to go down than they are and now theyll also get to the EL semi finals. I think people are massively overrating them. Let's see if their better players stay and how they manage the extra games and travelling first. It’s worth noting most of our signings last summer had a fair bit of experience in European competitions already. They’ll be used to the workload. Of course there will likely be a slight drop off at least, but I don’t think it’ll be as drastic as some (and the bookies) are suggesting.
