Through the legs goals happen all the time just unlucky.

True, he’s ‘saved’ at least two off the inside of his calf/ankle this season. Guess it can go anywhere when it hits there; yesterday it was hit with such power that it stayed closer to its original trajectory.

His downward trajectory appears to be as rapid as Trippier at the moment. I wasn’t convinced on him on either goal 1 or 3 yesterday, Pope of 2 years ago saves both.

Like Trippier, he’s a good guy and done extremely well for us but we’re once again holding onto players too long and hanging them out to dry.

True but I’m not impressed with Pope watching it back. He starts to come forward, changes his mind and ends up half way out, is stood very vertical and not ready to make a save.

Maybe the early shot surprised him, TBF.

He’s no better than Ramsdale IMO.

He's a much better shot stopper than Ramsdale and has been infinitely better for Brentford this season than Ramsdale has for us. Has had some of his worst games against us though, he was a brilliant backup for Liverpool but the 3-3 draw and the League Cup final against us were maybe his worst days for them. In the previous year's League Cup final 1-0 win over Chelsea he was superb and was generally brilliant in those cup runs, won a few shootouts for them and has a great record on penalties this year too. Been a hero for the Irish team too.

I wouldn't blame Pope for that winner. He did not make any obvious error, the defence hanged him out to dry there.

I did.

At least at the time.

Not disregarding the defenders but Pope moved to close the player down. Just for a split second, then bottled it.

It's that, consistent, indecision that's has led to his numerous and glaring fuck ups

I'm one of his biggest critics but think it's harsh blaming him for that one. Think we're just that used to him stopping pretty much anything that's at his body particularly with his feet. It is just another sign though that he's not doing the things that used to set him apart from the average goalkeeper.

If he continued to rush out, he would be in no man's land. He backed off quickly and I think his positioning was good too (prioritise covering the near post). The shot was low and hard towards the far post so it was very much a tall task.

Aye, tbf I've held off from watching the highlights. Only just cracked.

I was going off my original, split second, view from the Gallowgate.

From there it looked, to me anyway, that his hesitation was an issue.

From the highlights I don't think he had any chance of rushing the kid. Maybees, at worst, it slowed his positioning but hey-ho.

Needs taking out. Ramsdale is no better but we can’t have him floundering around letting one or two past him each match.

I expect Ramsdale will start on Saturday.

I think John Burridge might start Saturday

I mean. It looked crap from him. But not really sure him getting blocked by VdV and Botman cost us a goal. They’ve looped it back in no bother and Gray has a volley unchallenged from 6 yards.

That happens all the while at corners every week in the league. It’s the Arsenal tactic and now everyone does it.

Plenty of errors from him this season that have led to goals. One on Saturday even  Not sure I’m pinning this one on him.

love Nick but that equaliser's on him.

wtf was he even trying to do?

thick as fuck. really really thick as fuck.

must be really pissing off his teamates.

How many goals now this season?

Arsenal winner

Liverpool away

West Ham equaliser

Brentford away equaliser

Marseille equaliser

Then there’s questionable ones like 2 of them on Saturday. Appalling.

I'd only be starting ramsdale as we are resting players, as we'd be conceding more with Ramsdale in goal.

No tah. He is far worse coming off his line (Pope one of if not

the best on crosses stopped in the league, I think) and he had less than a 50% save ratio last time I checked.

Pope needs upgrading. But Ramsdale is nowhere near the answer.

Short memories on here. He was getting pelters when he was partly to blame for seemingly at least a goal a game when he was in nets

I’ve not seen it back yet, but was he blocked? Looked like he was too busy trying to pretend to be fouled.
