samptime29 Posted yesterday at 09:41 Share Posted yesterday at 09:41 Been successful in 2 ballots this season (one the cup final), the other 3 games I've been to I've managed to buy a single ticket in the resale.

Test to see who’s successful. Someone who’s been a member for like a decade and always enters ballot, or someone who’s been a member since last season and never enter a ballot as the lead person. You can easily get a really long losing streak with a percentage like that. I think that’s the hard thing to understand about probability, especially when the sample size of a football season is so small. It’s like you’re flipping a coin 20 times, you couldn’t be surprised if it came down heads 15 times. You need to flip it hundreds of times to get the results we all expect. There’ll obviously be someone out there who’s 2 out of 8, and luck has decreed that they’ve effectively got your ‘1’. However, fully appreciate that the maths is no consolation when you just want to get to a game.

AyeDubbleYoo Posted yesterday at 09:53 Share Posted yesterday at 09:53 I’m terrified of them getting rid of general sale. The fairest way is 100% ballot but right now I can almost guarantee going to the games I want through general sale. Don’t envy the people who have to rely on the ballot, it’s awful. Thorpinho Posted yesterday at 10:39 Share Posted yesterday at 10:39 I have applied for most ballots this season (think I missed one or two) and had 4 successes which seems more than average. I have been to 12 home games this season and have tickets for the next 3 (Brentford, Man Utd, palace). I have the friends and family set up with 3 or 4 others who, like me, can usually make the 10am general sales. So we are usually able to buy tickets for each other. The site is confusing and not a smooth experience - my 70 year old dad says he doesn’t understand it and can’t do it. So clearly some accessibility issues the club have there, and I buy tickets for him. Most games we sit together. The site crashing stopped me getting arsenal home tickets in the cup, I didn’t get any Wembley ones and like other members have no chance at an away game. So clearly the ballot doesn’t work very well, whereas the sale sees me get to the majority of games. The 10am must be a frustration with some people but I don’t see an easy fix to that - if they set it at 7pm for example I’d struggle to get online then for various child care related reasons. Last season, when I don’t remember the general sale existing, I barely got to any games. If you are free at 10am on general sale days it is definitely possible to get tickets, including seats together, from my experience this season. The improvements I’d like to see are some kind of long term hope of away eligibility, even if that takes a lot of time and games to accrue.
AyeDubbleYoo Posted yesterday at 10:57 Share Posted yesterday at 10:57 The website wouldn’t meet any modern accessibility standards at all. Assume it’s completely unusable for anyone with accessibility needs.
bobbydazzla Posted yesterday at 11:02 Share Posted yesterday at 11:02 (edited) My success ratio in the the ballot is utter shite. Across 2 x memberships and applying as individuals for every game in league and cup I think we've had a couple of wins this season Never fail in general sale though, I get a ticket for every game. Somehow even managed to get a ticket for the Arsenal semi despite the site crashing We've been through this loads of times on this here board, but there's multiple ways to get a ticket this season, you just have to be savvy. e.g. like @Thorpinho and pals ganging together and using Friends & Family linked accounts The ballot is just the tip of the iceberg Edited yesterday at 11:06 by bobbydazzla
Chicken Dancer Posted yesterday at 11:08 Share Posted yesterday at 11:08 My mate has applied for every single ballot since August 2023 and he's got one for Villa at home last season (opening day) and Chelsea in the cup this season. Not sure how many games that is in total but I'm guessing at least 30. He's either doing something terribly wrong or has awful luck. Like others though, he tends to get to most games from member sale. He's probably only missed 5 or 6 in that span, though granted has paid 3 figures for some 'premium' games. I've just counted and it's 42 He's literally applied for every game; Premier League, CL, FAC & League cup in that span. Quick counting by me on .com mind! Jill Posted yesterday at 18:38 Share Posted yesterday at 18:38 5.3% success for me. I'll assume it was a definite yes in the ones I didn't apply for. It's a bit of a naff return but I did alright last season and I've got to several additional games via mates' STs.
