I’ve come to think that a striker who can back up Isak is the most important signing we will make this summer and should be number 1 priority.  We might play up to and more than 55 games next season.  We can’t rely on Isak to be fit for every game, the player who replaces/rotates with him has to be someone where the drop off isn’t too much. Pedro fits that bill plus his versatility.  Yes we need a right winger but we didn’t win a league game where Isak wasn’t involved last season - that’s worrying.  A RW is still important but we will still win games if Murphy isn’t playing. We may have to go again with him.  But a striker is crucial otherwise we won’t get to where we need to be next season.

JP takes us to a higher level than Elanga and whilst not being an out and out RW can fill in and adapt in that position.

A striker is the number 1 priority for me too, I think I said this yesterday in this thread.

I think Gordon has shown flashes on brilliance on the right tbh. He's stunk the left side out a fair bit too mind

Gordon had a lot of stinkers on the right to the point people were questioning if he was literally refusing to play that side.

We keep saying Joao Pedro for CF but he’s not an out and out striker. Back up is ok but if Isak is out we may become toothless upfront again 

 

why has buying enough players to fit your basic objectives become so damn difficult

I do wonder whether Eddie is thinking about taking a risk and bringing him in to start at RW. A risk in terms of JP not being used to that position, rather than him not being quality in general.

I think he’s concerned slightly how little certain games Isak is involved in so maybe someone more on his wavelength to play with and interchange positions etc during the game which obviously Murphy will not offer when that is needed.

Yeah that's what I meant. A front 3 of Gordon/Isak/JP would be very good, then you've got options in the absence of any.

 

Obviously I'd prefer JP + a right winger.
