My best mate is an agent, and a decent guy - really looks after his players

Most players get picked up pretty young so ny question was probably more aligned to how do these scumbags get to the front of the queue when players/parents are looking into this.

The answer is pretty obvious but if it was my kid, would avoid people like this like the plague.

can see why some parents are so involved in their kids' lives in the sporting world - hopefully you have a good parent who can simply just look after the child and the child only. I know for certain I'd be my son's rep if he ever made it and would do it for bloody nothing man, would kill me to see my own boy get taken advantage of!

Probably depends a lot on how well equipped the parents are to navigate that murky world

Some parents won’t know what they’re doing, or they’ll not give a shit as long as the money rolls in

A single mum living in poverty in a ghetto somewhere probably isn’t best equipped to make appropriate decisions for their potential superstar kid, no matter how much she might love and care for him

Whereas I expect Alfie Haaland had a very good idea of how to look after Erling’s best interests

If a notorious Serbian gangster tells me to stay at home so he can make himself a fortune by getting me a deal with one of the biggest clubs in world football where I’ll earn a million pounds a month, then it’s not going to be easy to persuade him that I don’t want to do it

Not defending Isak, because I’m appalled at his attitude, but you can see how players end up in these situations

I don’t believe for a minute Isak is doing anything against his will. Come on ffs

I said I wasn’t defending Isak either, he’s clearly playing his part

I was just saying that I can see how a gangster telling you to do this and do that and they’ll get you a huge move would be very hard to resist

it’s his agent. They likely have a good relationship. Stop saying gangster like he’s forcing Isak to be his agent. I get the agent is a ropey character but Isak knows what he’s doing

The whole thing is so dumb and unnecessary [emoji38] Gone on strike for one specific club who keep saying they aren't even going to bid for him unless we decide we want rid. The fact he waited until that club had just spent 90m on another striker makes it even more ridiculous.

It's easy to get lost in all these conspiracies with emotions so high due to the nature of what and how it is being reported in the press. But there's not much that we know for certain, the club admitted that Isak wanted to explore his options, Liverpool have had a conversation about the availability of Isak and Isak has said he's carrying a minor injury.

We are currently at a point where Isak is training alone in Sociadad with his own team of physios, which in retrospect makes sense, keeps him away from the red band media frenzy and the whole team is away in the far East anyway, plus the warmer climbs would help with any injury Isak may or may not be carrying.

Now I know there's no smoke without fire and there has to be some element of truth with what has been said in the press, however Isak is still an NUFC player, Liverpool have not tabled any bid and Isak hasn't handed in a transfer request or said he won't play for us again.

Now the kairos will be next week when the team return for training at Benton, that's when we should have and will need clarity on the issue so we can properly prepare for the season ahead and move forward with our targets.

I've found myself getting lifted and dropped in the sea of emotion following every step in the media but until the people closest to the issue (the club and Isak himself) speak out its hard to split the chaff from the wheat so its all just noise.

Got no idea what you do for a living, but I think it’d be a nightmare trying to rep a young star if you’re not in that game already

Personally I like to think I’ve got enough gumption to choose a decent agency and then I’d keep my distance and focus on the kids personal well being as I’d not have a fucking clue about the financial side

Noone is saying Isak is being forced or that this is all against his will. A gangster agent like Vlado Lemic can be the difference in deciding whether a transfer request is done a) the right way with decency, or b) the wrong way, see current hold out/strike.

I’m only using gangster because he’s clearly a gentleman of ill repute. And he looks like a gangster

It’s a catch all term

Don’t overthink it

If Isak stays the crowd reaction to him is going to be interesting

If boos and negativity ring out from the stands he’ll have some insight into what it’s been like for Sean Longstaff for the couple of seasons

Cabaye I think? When Arsenal slapped in a lowball bid for him just before the season opener at Man City

Just me or has everyone sensed a mood change in the media today. Far less bullish this is a formality and leaning more towards him staying?

Been pretty busy today so not really caught up on much, what article(s) has made you think this?

Did Cabaye go on strike ?

He refused to play away at Man City and didn’t appear in any matchday squads until Fulham at home on 31st August when he came off the bench. Was then in the team and played his best football for us before he was sold at the end of January.

Rivière looked like he was on strike the whole time he was here.

Think there was something with Coloccini wanting to go back to Argentina?

There is a huge amount of conjecture here from people who should know better. What do we know ? Isak didn't stay in Glasgow because the club wanted to keep him out of the limelight and he was injured anyhow. He didn't travel because he was injured or that is what the club told us. Somebody said he wanted to look at his options not sure who but i dont think it was Isak. He's currently training at his old club we don't know if NUFC knew or gave him permission to go there.

Who says he's on strike, who says he wants to go to Liverpool, as far as ive heard nobody has said that. Probably best to stop regurgitating made up nonsense and wait until either Isak or the club say something.

There was that story where he, unbeknownst to Arsenal, was listening in on the negotiations and heard them say something along the lines of "£20m is too much for a backup midfielder". No idea if that was true.
