Hanshithispantz
We've been bent over a barrel. We desperately need someone with a ruthless streak as it's pretty obvious Liverpool have known they were getting him all along, and for what price. They've been telling us through Romano for weeks what was going to happen Edited September 1, 2025 by Hanshithispantz

Once again, Suarez is the mother of all cunts. And he somehow had one of his most productive seasons ever after his tantrum. Look, Suarez was training and playing, but Isak wasn't. Same with Kane and the others. They all acted up, but they still played and trained. Isak completely cut ties with Newcastle. He didn't train or play. We're three games in, and he's not even on the bench. Comparing that to others who threw a fit but still played is just wrong. When that meeting on Monday didn't go well, it was over. Like I said, if the club thought they could bring him back, he'd stay. Him leaving shows there was no way back for him.

I manage people and contracts into the millions but obviously not to this degree (will log off here now and so some work). If in a similar situation I would think we’ve made several mistakes. With Isak, with Liverpool, in the transfer market for strikers. Over like 18 months. It’s the joining of the dots. Thats Ashworth and Staveleys strengths. We lost that with Isak and then not negotiated well afterwards. Isak obviously takes the majority because he’s driven everything. Acted terribly - beyond what you could imagine. Ita true that you won’t find many players willing to burn down their legend in this manner. But to even attempt scorched earth you would think it would work and it did. Players don’t go scorched earth with Levy because they know it won’t work. He doesn’t give them the space to think it will work.

tom1988
Isak's behaviour aside, we've had our pants pulled down here. We should have stood our ground and said to him from the start that if he wanted to leave then it will be to a club outside of the PL and this should have been the message to the scousers from the start. We've now caved in at a price below what we wanted and we've done so before the pubicly stated 'conditions of a sale' were met. There's no way that we can gloss over this with any degree of copium. Despite it being a British record fee whatever, we lost and to the fucking bin dippers too.
Benwell Lad
No way Eddie Howe wanted a toxic, or even reluctant, presence in the dressing room. He will have had significant input into the decision to go for the maximum fee available and draw a line under something which would have continued to be a distraction in the months ahead. That decision had to be made today. We now have to move forward united and with total focus on the team and season ahead. The College Dropout
You think Levy let Kane think he would be sold for anything less than his asking price at any point? He said he would only sell at £150m to City and he meant it. Kane missed a week of training. He said he wanted £100m the next year (or the year after) - 1 year left on the contract. He got it. Stottie
Isak did not deserve 200k a week until he started clearly outproducing the (declining) Callum Wilson. Eddie chose to not start Isak over Wilson in the Carabao final against Man U. That was only two years ago. It is speculation to suggest a player who has kicked up a summer 2025 level stink could have been placated with a still affordable wage (200k?) and a high release clause in summer 2024. Summer 2024 is when we sold Anderson and Minteh for PSR. Giving other players juicier contracts that cost more but might have our back and get us 10-20M more when they leave would not have been a priority. The Isak situation deteriorated publically most when it came out Ekitike was getting 250k. At that point, it was probably game over. SkySports on here (on a stick) and their comment was about Villa was a dismissive mention of them "having to get creative with PSR". Aside from selling desireable players to Sky 6 clubs, how do you "get creative" with PSR? Are Bournemouth supposed to find a Huijsen every year? Yes, but those clubs were not in our PSR position. Its much harder to play hardball when we cannot pay anything like the same wages at Liverpool and are not allowed to put extra money in to buy players (e.g., a striker to play when Isak is on strike) were we to sacrifice any money by not selling the wantaway player. The system is set up to fuck us and clubs like us.
