I think there's an element of truth here also, Isak was promised and deserves an improved contract and he's had one of the best teams in world football courting him, he knows his worth and we've let him down through empty promises. At the very least this is a power play to get what he deserves, he's tried playing nice and just keeping his head down and scoring goals and it's got him nowhere.

I do think he's gone the wrong way about it and I don't support what he's doing to the club but I do understand his frustrations, hopefully it's not too late to rectify this.

I think everyone understands the frustration right. As fans who actually have skin the game we feel it more than most. I haven't come across a post who begrudges him leaving. In fact I'd go as far to say the forum conesus converged to he will be off next summer with no hard feelings.

This issue as a fan he's behaving like a spoilt baby and disrespecting us an institution, fans, team mates the gaffa you name it and that's where the line has to be drawn.

I'm pretty sure if Isak binned his agent there would be another 20 lined up to try and get their commission on his next move. They're all the same anyway, extract the most value for themselves and their clients.

Yeah absolutely agree mate, I said yesterday he owes us nothing in respect to loyalty, what he does owe us is the respect he's been afforded since he was signed and he's shown none this week, which is galling, especially for Howe.

Big if, but if he signs a new deal or stays for one more season, I’d expect him to apologise, knuckle down and still deliver the same quality we’ve seen before. He’s not a lost cause for me and we’ve got enough pros in our squad who will remind him.

Today is the big day. If we don’t get the “Liverpool have agreed terms with Isak, bid imminent” after all of yesterday and Liverpool supposedly readying a bid for past 2 weeks, I’m not sure we ever will.

Think we as a club have to now also get ahead of the narrative. Doesn’t have to be a direct statement from club as you never get that, but a solid leak from the club on what the true stance and situation is. All Howe is going to get over this whole tour is questions about Isak which will piss him off.

It’s a fickle fickle business. He’s never been the most passionate of players, difficult to warm to - not exactly a blood and guts type of bloke like Bruno or BDB. He’s come, he’s been brilliant but he clearly saw us as a platform to bigger things - let’s just match his energy, get as much money as we can for him (which should be astronomical) and move on. We’re bigger than any one player and this deal could unlock the PSR conundrum for a good couple of windows.

The fans have shown him nothing but love, he's shit all over us, get rid, move on.

He can absolutely love this and the fans but also want to progress his career to the highest it can be at the same time

Looking back with a sober mind and nights sleep this has been coming mind, we as fans either didn't notice or refused to accept it.

Which other player in world football is literally "injured" for months on end yet at the same time starting multiple times per week? He was visibly more frustrated and moody last season also often throwing arms when he didn't get his way/ball passed to it. And all this is without the absolutely lack of effort made for long periods in matches.

And yesterday we got the truth, the man is doing his absolute best to engineer himself a move to Liverpool. Hope he's sent to dessert and enjoys playing with Duran.

Personally I don't want to see him in our shirt again, he has no respect for his team mates, the club, it's fans or his manager who has made him into the player he is. This isn't about a contract let's not kid ourselves he's just a selfish cunt.

Looked like he couldn't be arsed from the cup final onwards as well. A lot of us let him off and used the injury excuse but after the way he's gone on strike to force this move it does make you question if he was even injured at all .

As I mentioned, what player is injured for 2 months but starts every game and is capable of putting in intermittent effort. To be fair to Isak he never said he was injured.

Common sense comments like that don't really count when I have my black and white glasses on, id give my right arm to play 20 minutes on the turf at St James park, this bloke is shitting all over my dream and getting millions a year to do it.

There are ways to leave a club and in my eyes Isak has done it the wrong way and lost my respect.

We don’t sell him to Liverpool at any cost unless they’re daft enough to pay 200 million. This is an attempt to weaken our position, it’s imperative we don’t roll over and accept anything under 150 million from anyone.

If we sell Isak to Liverpool it’s more than losing our best player, it’s a psychological blow to everyone connected with this club, which will open up all the old insecurities everyone associated with us.

I think he's one of the best strikers I've seen play at SJP and I'm annoyed how this has turned out - I will be glad that we get what we deserve from him and don't have to worry if his thigh/groin has gone again - its literally the only silver lining.

For all the stick I give him, Luke Edwards did pretty much put it in a nutshell imo when he said that this is where PIF get to show what they see Newcastle United as being.

For all the talk of player and agent power, client journalists, us being lower in the food chain, this that and the other, the bottom line is still that this is the club's decision.

This idea that players always get their way is a pure myth, countless players have tried forcing their club's hands - including at Liverpool - and ended up losing the battle, only to come back with their tail between their legs, or leave on the club's terms. Crystal fucking Palace are capable of doing this so I absolutely refuse the notion that we can't.

So what sort of club do we want to be? One that other clubs see can be bullied into selling its players? One that players and agents see can be bullied? Or one that can stay resolute and take short term pain (keeping a want away player, upsetting an agent etc) for the long term gain (setting a precedent that the club comes first)

I don't think it can be emphasised enough just how much of a disastrous watershed moment selling Isak to Liverpool would be. We wouldn't just be losing an excellent player, we'd be defining what we are as a club now and in the future as a push over, as small-time, as a club where strengthening future rivals is acceptable and with a so-called project to be number 1 that's effectively over, was a pipe dream, or was never an objective at all.

Other players and potentially the manager - the person holding all of this together- will see that the writing's on the wall and they were sold a lie.

This is partly me just needing to get this off my chest, but I do believe this. By some accounts the 'project' not being what it was sold as is in part contributing to Isak wanting to leave, and if they don't buck their ideas up while at the same time either keeping Isak or selling him abroad then I think we can put a pin in all of it for the time being.

That’s where I am a bit puzzled at. Surely the Saudis won’t want (or I should say, tolerate) their representative in the football world to be treated as a nice target to be bullied? That’s the Saudis we are talking about.

If we really back down and let Isak go to Liverpool, I think we would have an answer re what we really are within Saudis “big picture”

Your right, sell him to Liverpool and the whole project is questionable. I mean some of us have been questioning but you know what I mean.

It's why I've been scratching my head all this time. What kind of statement does this put out for the Saudis if they are getting bullied by another Prem team for our owners favourite player? Baffling really.

It's difficult to say it, but if I were Howe and the club let Isak go... well yeah, it d make me wonder about staying as well, long term especially. As indeed it runs counter to the whole 'number 1' thing.
