if he goes to Liverpool I bloody hope either Chelsea, City, Arsenal win the league. I want to see Liverpool not win it despite this brutal high spend. Wirtz, Isak, Frimpong, Mamardashvili, Kerkez. circa 400m. they make a fair bit back on sales but still its brutal spending on top of a side that just won the title. even a 2nd place is a big disappointment and anything less than CL semifinals.

If the Athletic article is true, looks like it's the worst case scenario of how we got here. Mismanagement from the club and player being a cunt.

 

Makes sense as to why we pushed so hard for a big time striker earlier in the window. We've been aware he's wanted to leave all of this time and have been hedging our bets. He was probably told to wait until we have his replacement and felt like it wasn't going to happen so he forced our hand.

If that was the case then LIverpool did themselves no favours by signing Ekitike from under our noses. This is exactly why we should tell them to do one unless they want to offer outrageous money.

Their owners tried to steal control of football through project big picture. They then a few months later tried to cause massive damage to domestic and European football by helping found the ESL and join it. They aren’t well ran, they are well financed.

 

 

 

Surely being financially sound indicates that they’re also well-run. Reckon it’s between them and City for the most competent ownership in the league.

 

They have a massive assist by virtue of being a cartel member, but look how ManU, Chelsea, and even Arsenal to some degree have squandered that advantage.

I think they would have if they thought we were open to selling Isak, then it seems they got nervous we might end up with both so probably thought they would do that instead by signing Ekitike then getting Isak to agitate for a move.

This has always been my position. Liverpool are not in a position to set the agenda here, Isak is our player and under contract no matter how much bitching comes from his circles.

Maybe they have, maybe Eddie told him he’s a Newcastle player contracted for another 3 years and to stay at home, have a think and clear his head, that he didn’t want him distracting and drawing attention away from the tour and that it would be dealt with when he is back in the UK. Lots of maybes filling the vacuum of no factual news.
