Can people pleeeeassssseeeee stop saying this.

We literally just beat them in a cup final. Their shiny new team just lost to Crystal Palace.

They're our second game of the season. Beat them and we could be above them in the table for a bit.

If we do well in the CL we may well face them in the knockout stages.

We're obviously handicapped financially against them but the only way they're not our rivals if we accept the media narrative that they're our betters and fulfil the prophecy by giving them our best players.

Well we don’t know exactly how the league pans out, but I’d say as far as the league is concerned they aren’t rivals as they’re probably expected to win it again, whereas we aren’t. I agree otherwise though.

Palace beat City in a final, are they rivals as well? We're light years off Liverpool, and the gap between us is beginning to look insurmountable. Liverpool have at least 4 clubs they will see as rivals above us.

Lee Ryder can’t help himself

Likely some scouse c*nt from Reach NW sportsdesk wrote that and put his name to it, or its AI generated twaddle (not that you'd be able to tell the difference from the "real thing" if it was [emoji38])

Just drafted him first round for my FF team so could really do with this getting sorted. @Eddie

Are you making him train on his own? He’ll probably refuse to play.

I for one would like to express my deepest, heartfelt gratitude to Liverpool, the paragons of football virtue, for the honour of showing an interest in our star player. It is truly humbling that they want to do business with us and it will forever be a mark of shame that my club acted so disrespectfully towards them by not engaging in serious negotiations when they were just a mere 40m short of the valuation.

It's heartbreaking to hear that Liverpool were upset by our unequivocal stance and I urge Newcastle to find it within their hearts to come to a resolution that suits both Liverpool and Alexander Isak.

Thank you once again Liverpool and Liverpool fans for acting with such humble grace and decorum, your elegant conduct is an example to us all.

We wish you all the best for the upcoming season, may you retain your rightful title with ease.

It's going to be more insurmountable if we let them have our best player.

I just see it as such a defeatist attitude. You're basically saying "why even try?" and i'd venture that's a losing attitude for a sports team.

Are they expected to win it again? Bookies probably have them as favourites as they won last year but they've gone through quite a few changes and have aging Salah/VVD and a suspect defence.

This is turning into Slot's team rather than Klopps.

Think there's easily a world where they're fighting around 4th-5th with the rest of us and I wouldn't be surprised if the top of the league is a little more open this season compared to others.

I don't particularly expect us to be fighting for the league title but the squad have to be going into the season with that as an aspiration.

Liverpool has a lot of problems. They were just lucky that things gone unbelievably well last season. You may not realize but now they actually have a very thin squad, kinda comparable to us.

That writes like correspondence between 2 Japanese teams for some reason.

What do people think the realistic outcome of this is going to be then?

I've been convinced he goes ever since it all came out

But it seems another day is going to tick by without anything happening and we genuinely don't seem like we will move on the price we want...

Maybes Isak will escalate it and refuse to go into train on his own or summit

I think it all depends on us getting reasonable replacements.

If we don't Isak will fall back in line after the transfer window shuts, doubt he will escalate things further until then.

They take away our freedom
In the name of liberty
Why can't they all just clear off
Why can't they let us be
They make us feel indebted
For saving us from hell
And then they put us through it
It's time the bastards fell

Don't believe them
Don't believe them
Don't be bitten twice
They gotta suss, suss, suss, suss, suss, suss
Suss, suspect defence.

After all of this what are people thoughts on the Jota thing. I thought we were doing a minutes silence of something?

Easy for me to say as I won’t be there but I’m all for ignoring it, not actively going against it, just ignoring it.

Not sure if they’re expecting a minutes silence tour of the country but after all of this they can get to fuck. Self-righteous cunts.

They can get to fuck. They can have their silence at Anfield on Friday night but come Bank Holiday Monday, we shouldn’t be doing any courtesies for the treacherous rats.

To be fair, this is how some of the mid-table PSR cockriders act.

Like I've said a bunch of times, I still reckon Isak's sticking around. I don't think we'll take 130 plus 10, that'd be weak. We'll want a full 150m package or more to show strengh. Surely we dont let it play out this long just to fold to Liverpool.

Romano said a player will go on strike if there's a option (Liverpool in this case.) Once that's gone, Isak'll have to suck it up for Howe (bend the knee). He'll say sorry to the team and try to make it up to the fans on the pitch.

I still reckon Liverpool won't pay what we want. I could be wrong, but it feels unlikely.

Their play is Isak keeps it up (striking), we cave, and they can lowball us.

It just depends if we cave, which is looking unlikely, hence the Ben Jacobs non update.

Despite all the strong words and posturing in public I'd imagine it is all very cordial and welcoming behind the scenes. Both sides aware that bridges may need to be rebuilt come 2nd September and there's no need to be antagonistic while we're in stalemate.

Suspect it will all get tense again when/if we sign a striker or strikers and Liverpool chance their arm again which will undoubtedly trigger Isak and/or his agent to start tantruming

Agree with this. They’ve used him in a whole world of stink just to low ball. Cheap twats that they are. They need to worry about that defence first after yesterday’s efforts!
