Isak is Sweden’s forward no matter what happens. He’s not fighting for a place in that squad ffs.

If hes not played a game for 12 months he may be on the plane to go there with the squad, but he will have no guaranatees. Especially if Gyokeres has a good season with Arsenal this year

Although Isaks statement is on his  Instagram account, I still dont believe it was drafted by him. It smacks to me of yet another desperate attempt by his agent to blame the club for breaking a non existent promise.  His agent is trying to distance himself from public opinion now suggesting Isak should sack him for the debacle he has caused!!!

He'll want to play this season regardless of Sweden, a player who's not scoring goals loses appeal for the big clubs anyway. His stock as one of the world's best strikers will plummet.

Sweden also have Gyokores and Isak won't be very good at the WC with a year out of competitive football, rusty and gassing out after 30 minutes isn't a good look. It serves him no purpose to not play at all, its not even an argument.

I am fancying a Deadline day move to Saudi once we have got our 2 strikers in now

Liverpool won't stump up and he realises the hole he has dug is too deep to come back here

Luke's redemption arc is complete as someone said earlier in the thread. Still think he responds to tweets like a fanny though.

I’ll remember that…

Speaking of fannies I wonder if the club have made him clarify this as he does like to hint at drama…

Henry Mauriss and Barella are all but a distant memory. Fair play to the bald git. Enjoying the cut of his jib over the past few days.

Just to provide a little dramatic relief to the discussion Mike Amos's Grass Routes blog was discussing Ankles Bennet a few days ago and saying the nickname may actually have been Arkle. Mind like you I only ever knew him as Ankles :)

Can I just ask - as an outsider looking in - is it really worth missing out on decent profit from a PSR point of view not selling him?

Seems like a silly thing to do just to prove some sort of point.

We support a football club, not a balance sheet.

What would that achieve? The only evidence which matters is the contract with 3 years remaining. Are we going to lower our asking price if he can prove what he was promised?

For him? It would prove he wasn't telling pork pies in his post.

For the club, it would not change a thing, either on the asking price or his contract, both of which we need to hold fast on.

For me, it would slightly change how badly I viewed him if and when he is reintegrated. If we really did promise him something and didn't follow through, I'd boo him a bit less.

Though there's a counter argument to that in not washing your dirty laundry in public if there's any semblance of truth in his statement.

I'm not saying I do want that response from him, I'm saying that if he's telling the truth the club statement pushes him into denying it and carries the circus on.

Depends on which team he goes to and for how much.

That would be my concern I don't think we are in a position where we can lose significant funds due to PSR etc, however, at this stage I am sure the club are willing to accept a sizeably less fee next summer than bend over now to way below the valuation.

PS. I would snap your hands off if a foreign club came in with a similar offer to Liverpool right now, not ideal but it is better than being forced to sell in this country and a fee way below what we thought was acceptable.

It's not an easy choice, but we won't allow ourselves to be bullied like this.

We've got a sell on clause to Sociedad, so £110m isn't as big as it seems. £150m is the asking price and Liverpool aren't meeting it.

Way behind on this discussion but looks like the club have definitely won the statements game.

Isac's was poor, lacked any substance at all and seemed undignified in it's timing and delivery.

The club would have won even if they'd said nothing but whoever was penning theirs is a lot smarter than whoever penned Isac's.

Would you be happy with selling Chris Rigg for only £110M?

We could sell him for the same amount next summer as what Liverpool are offering now

It's not just to make a point

You thick mackem cunts are obsessed with this transfer

We won’t. He’ll be worth the same amount currently bid for him next year (£110m) and the market to sell him will be bigger likely to include his favourite team Barcelona.

Any small amount of money lost will be gained many times over for every transfer window that’s passes in the clubs future an agent/player realises they can’t break a contract unfairly without consequences or demand ahead of schedule pay rises etc.

Can’t put a price on power…
