What he's said is probably correct though, the transfer will very likely go through. It seems clear that by signing one striker on Friday and by continuing to chase others across the weekend, that the club are actively pursuing the sale. If we didn't want to sell him, we'd just sit on our hands and wait it out.

Problem is the fans with these views will be fucking themselves over the most if they get their wish and the player departs. Fuck the rat. For many people the behaviour is irredeemable, for many people the precedent is the most important, for others the most important is getting the most money and reinvesting it astutely. Nobody’s really wrong - which is what makes it such an awful situation. The point I was trying to make is that trying to equate defending the club and vocalising completely justified anger is not automatically tantamount to being wilfully indifferent to the club’s fortunes moving forward. There are things in life which can be deemed unforgivable, for many fans (especially travelling and paying every day fans) a red line has been broken (loyalty to the club and decency of conduct). I think as many others have set out better than me, the emotional side of this is every bit as important as the financial. What’s the point in competitive regional sport otherwise? Think Gordon, Elanga, Isak, Woltemade, with Bruno, Tonali, Joelinton on the field at the same time, I shouldn't do it to myself. What a team we could have had if the rat hadn't started acting up. Even without the Isak circus another striker was always going to be a summer priority due to Wilson turning into a 55 year old seemingly overnight, the new Champions League format and Isak burning out towards the end of the year again. Woltemade just gets us back to par on striker depth. Isak going needs at least one, probably two more striker signings - and the Scousers are leaking they don't want to stump up the cash to enable that. The exact same argument applies the other way It makes little sense for an astute businessman to sell an asset for under market value, to a competitor, in a one horse race, after being manipulated into that position by that competitor They’ve been forced to weaken their financial position whilst also weakening their reputation and standing in the industry, whilst also strengthening a competitor. They’ll get a short term boost to the balance sheet but beyond that they’ve fucked themselves over Edited August 31, 2025 by bobbydazzla
Keegans Export
I'll not criticise any fan who just wants him gone, I get it. To me though, it's like having a kid who wants an ice cream. He's kicking and screaming, generally just being a little shit. You can do the easy thing, give in and let him have the ice cream. Short-term you feel much better, problem solved, but the long-term effect has the potential to be much worse. If he stays, plays and scores he'll have 50k celebrating because his goals benefit the wider football club.

TheHoob
Replacement doesn't have to be immediate I would guess though, in the same way I'm pretty sure we were buying Ekitike as a long term replacement for Isak, with the thought he'd be off in Jan or next summer. Woltemade played as part of a striker pair in Stuttgart - and Howe has been flirting with a two striker formation for a while now. You are also dying on a hill here that you expect the Saudis to gladly get fucked over on the transfer fee of their most valuable asset.

Fans who are letting their rage override everything are being played like a fiddle by the player, his agent and LFC. Their reaction is exactly what those parties want. No doubt in the minds of those fans the player departure will feel like a win in the short term but in the long term it will feel crushing. A bit like a blinding high off necking a class A drug only to later have the grimmest of comedowns when the high has worn off.
