I remember when Cole was sold - no direct replacement and Paul Kitson had to lead the line, until Les Ferdinand was signed the following summer. Kitson took a lot of stick for the record, IIRC. I know that it’s not high enough that we can accept even the slightest risk of allowing 130m to turn into zero. We are only two summers removed from being forced to sell our two best young players because that was the only way to avoid having to sell Bruno or someone similar.
