Not sure I agree. Owners are trillionaires playing by the tilted league rules that is the PL. In addition Great King Rat has fucked it all up and we need to maximize a very difficult situation either keep or sell.

Every journalist is paid based on interactions and views. Every journalist knows that this is the biggest and most watched story of a window going into its final day. They are all going to be out there making hay knowing that after tomorrow their numbers and monetisation will be significantly dropping. I’m not saying it won’t happen, but this idea that suddenly late on a Sunday night this info is all coming out, as opposed to it just being a jockeying for position and clicks, I’m still not sure. May be head in sand, but just cannot believe we would sell with no replacement.

So one of two things is apparent in 24 hours. 

 

1. The club is going to play the PSR game - the current crop of players are an investment and will need to be moved on in order to fund our actual attempts to be competitive in a few years so it's safe to disengage and be a bit cursory about things until then.

 

2. Literally every journalist is talking shit and there may actually finally be a reckoning for the state of it all.

As much as it's annoyed Eddie - of course he'd want Isak to stay.  What manager wouldn't want their best player to stay so very much doubt he'll be telling Yasir to sell him.  And Yasir was at the Liverpool game - surely he'll know how much of an unpopular decision it would be to sell to Liverpool. Especially without a replacement striker and below £150mil.  It just doesn't add up for our resolve to weaken now.  As you say we've yet to win a game without him.

Until proven otherwise I'm going to have faith that the club sees the same as us, we can't go into a CL campaign with just one established striker who is unproven in the PL.

So if it's true that we are ready to let Isak go I'm thinking we have someone else lined up.

I'm hoping we do bring a striker in but not like keeping Isak is a guarantee of any kind

 

A lot of people are assuming he'll come back into the fold but maybe he really is committed to seeing this through, in which case we don't have that extra striker and we still have the distraction

 

Or maybe I've come to that position to help cope with what I think will happen, I'd rather try and cope with it than lose my shit like I think a lot of people will do (and tbf I understand why)

Every athlete has lingering issues with their body that they don’t bother fixing because careers are short and they want to maximize their earnings. Once you make the decision to get an op, it’s essentially impossible to prove that there’s zero medical justification.

 

Kyrie threatened to do this when he got the Cavs to trade him to Boston, and Isak is at least as dumb if not more.

Can only think if we dont hold/cave its off the back of what isak said in those final "secret " talks as it doesn't sound like the reason is a massive fee. 

 

If he's said he won't play after the window closes and will hold firm then we have a massive player gathering dust with every article or press conference constantly about him and the dynamic of the relationship. 

 

I dont want to lose this fight but he's well and truly stuck to his guns and burnt every bridge he can without putting in a transfer request.
