Yeah, more downing tools than sabotage. All about interpretation though I suppose, easy to argue that downing tools is sabotage.

If my job is to switch the tracks and I down tools and the train derails, I sabotaged the train. Fuck him he knows what he did and what it would mean. Thank fuck for Manchester United. Hope he gets fucking scurvy.

So he'll be suing a newspaper rather than Newcastle. Load of nonsense.

He won't be suing anybody, this is just this Goldbridge twat making clickbait videos.

Sabotage is a strong word, and as you say, would normally sound a bit Tin Foil Hat, but it's definitely clear at this stage that his loss of form/lack of impact on games wasn't a coincidence.

I don't necessarily buy into him deliberately missing chances, but I do think he was deliberately half arsing it, likely to keep himself fresh and injury-free ahead of a potential move.

I mean, you see the last 15 shots/chances he had and...

You do start to think...

Didn’t he score against Palace? They missed that out.

But yeah. His last 2 months of the season were shite compared to those before it. That said, he started the season like a bag of shit and all.

I don't doubt that he was unmotivated the last 2 months, and it'd make sense with start of the season as well as he was apparently fuming about the contract according to Craig.

Regardless, Edwards should probably do the smart thing here and shut up about it, as regardless what one might think, there is no way to prove it either way.

Are we ignoring that he was playing every single game and lots of minutes because our backup options were average, and he might have been fucked by this point of the season?

It's still almost 1 in 2 as well.

True enough. But from memory, plenty were calling it out at the time as more than just him being fucked. I always just assumed he was yet again playing through another niggly injury. Hard to tell looking back knowing what we know now.

2 pens in those 4 goals FWIW.

"I wasn't trying to sabotage anything, your honour, I was really that bad for 2 whole months" commented the £130m player widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the world.

Like some of us have said before, we can't prove he was trying to sabotage our season - it's not something I'd put any effort into trying to prove, because it sounds and is a bit mental, but he definitely looked like a player who was with the way he played after the final.

On a somewhat petty note, I couldn't help but notice Isak's wikipedia page which for the duration of his time with us stated plainly "is a Swedish professional footballer who plays as a striker for Premier League club Newcastle United", and the second he signed for Liverpool it's changed to "...he is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the world".

Same would be true of Livramento, Tonali and Bruno if they ever moved I imagine. Nonsense, the favour these clubs get and as a result the contempt and disparagement of any who aren't of royal blood is so ingrained.

Something not right there.

He's going to be terrifyingly good if he can carry form for a full season. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets near 30 in the PL this season, even after missing the first few games.

He's going to score 50 goals for them easily this season. It's going to be hell. Only hope is a meteor or aliens. He was terrifying for us and we genuinely never learned how to pass to him.

To be fair, it's much more difficult to give his performances the benefit of the doubt when he's later proven that he's very happy to down tools and strike.

If he hadn't shown himself to be rancidly unprofessional, I'd assume he was too professional to deliberately down tools.
