Don’t think he ever scored an open play goal for us in the last 10 mins of a game he started?

Mind, Liverpool’s additional strength in depth should mean he’s playing less when clearly fucked.

He'll eventually go up a level, assuming his recent injury record maintains

We were always going to have to sell a purple at one point. Maybe not in the way this happened but I think we all knew it was going to happen sooner or later.

When he was here who were the options? Him or Bruno really the only players worth over £100m

He was a beast in front of goal for us but when he was out we really struggled. At least now we have more attacking options, with a proven PL goal scorer, and a young attacker with huge potential.

Plus we have money in the bank and have helped our PSR restrictions massively.

Easy to forget that our model for reaching the top is trading well, given the PSR restrictions we don't really have much choice. We planned on selling Bruno for £100m a year ago if someone met the release clause, and when that didn't transpire we had to scramble around to sell Elliott and Minteh instead.

In the end we had to sell Isak a year early, but that is our model as it stands so it could have been worse. Hopefully Woltemade will be the next £100m forward on our books. Although hopefully we are regular CL by then so we don't have to sell him.

Bit of a reset for us. Line drawn now for me. Onwards and upwards. Looking forward to seeing our new look frontline.

Serious question. Is Ekitike elite?

Looks that way so far I think. We REALLY wanted him which is a sign that the club thinks he is.

I just worry about his attitude. He really seems like he could throw his toys out of the pram at any moment and I think if he was here I would always be on eggshells on what was going to happen if he got stroppy.

Could be an incredible connection with Isak but could also quite easily go pear shaped.

Ok so he is high ceiling.

that seems to be the price point we buy at, the 60-75m. Ekitike Sesko Pedro Woltemade. Even Mbemo or Cunha id put here.

Isak Haaland Mbappe etc are at the elite 100m+ level. That’s the level that is beyond us. Man City though bought KDB Aguero Toure early on and they stayed the distance. It helped they won the title within 3 years of the takeover. I thought Bruno Tonali Botman and Isak were our equivalents. And had PSR not existed I think we could have been at that level already, Isak and Bruno came early before these restrictions were so apparent so would have thought they were signing up for the new big boys early.

the ambition we’ve not been able to match for Isak is definitely a consequence of PSR, he would have got his 300k a week pay rise and all that otherwise.

I love how the spouse  media report that Liverpool have signed Isak for a record £130m and the player has signed a 6 year contract.  So he'll be agitating for a move in 2 to 3 years when his agent wants another bumper payday.

Talksport earlier, they were talking about the Botman and Gordon public well wishes. Jim White saying it was wrong, Simon Jordan asking why, and saying its just how players do things these days... all on social media.

There was an interesting comment though at the end, which cut off before really being answered.

Did Isak actually refuse to train and/or play? Did EH ever say that? Or was it that he was just told to train alone and not selected, and thus, certain players wont feel as bad towards him if it wasn't all his decision?

I know we have that rumour of certain players being angry/needing to be restrained, but I did wonder if the not training/playing was Isak refusing, or more the club keeping him away from the group to avoid the distraction.

Either way, its all done, and we move forward without him. Onwards and (hopefully) upwards.

He refused to go on the tour which is refusing to play. The league games who knows tho Howe has said he wanted Isak to play

I think a lot will depend on his attitude and how that might affect his ability to put in the effort it takes to reach the very top of the game

It's been well documented that he can be a twat off the pitch

That daft cunt Goldbridge has just put out a video saying Isak might be taking legal action against NUFC

Dont know where this is coming from, was some other guy on ESPN talking about this yesterday as well that he believed it was management that had rejected sim the pre tour season and training with the squad etc as they knew his stance, kind of throwing Isak under the bus so they'd look better sort of stuff.

Believe its bollocks.

Truth will come out sooner or later regardless, might also have signed those contracts companies usually put on departed workers where they are not allowed to speak what have happened within in the company for 6-12 months.

While I don't believe a word of it, I'd be beyond disappointed if there any truth to it.

What does that even mean? You could just as easily say he MIGHT be tearing up his Liverpool contract and demanding a move back to Newcastle.
