I said £80m "wasn't an insult," because it isn't; no one is insulting anyone by putting 80 million quid on the table. It matches the most anyone in this league has ever paid for a striker excluding the Blue lunatics. And I said £17m was a decent profit, which it is, thanks to the backwards world of PSR. How many clubs have turned a profit on an investment that big? However, it's possible to think all of the above whilst also being absolutely certain that we shouldn't (and wouldn't) blink at such an offer. Tying yourself in knots here mate. Just admit it was a ridiculous statement by you.

If someone bids for him, and he's not particularly bothered whether he stays or goes, we're immediately in the £100m+ region. There's just no way we'll run the risk of losing him for nothing if that ever becomes a realistic scenario. He's making a prediction of what he thinks could happen in a specific (far from ideal) scenario, just like he explained in the quote I gave you. You can disagree with the possibility of that fee in that situation, but that's besides the point. Maybe you should read posts more carefully going forward. That way you won't twist peoples opinions into something different. Edited Sunday at 00:52 by Erikse

He's contracted to the club till June 2028, and he's worth way more than that. It's mind-boggling how you think it's not. It's astonishing, really. I disagree with all the bolded parts. Everyone is entitled to an opinion I guess, but 80 million for Isak not insulting? Wow. Just wow.
CPL Posted Sunday at 06:53 Share Posted Sunday at 06:53 We paid 63million a few years ago when he was unproven in the league so he should be at least 90m+.
Oregon_Geordie Posted Sunday at 07:24 Share Posted Sunday at 07:24 120m minimum. But in theory, should not be selling.

Beren Posted Sunday at 08:12 Share Posted Sunday at 08:12 I'm not interested in selling him at all for any value If the club did eventually decide to do so however, I'd be more annoyed if the deal for his successor wasn't lined up contemporaneously (like Liverpool did with Torres/Carroll). Let's just not go there though. Get European football and pay the man.

black_n_white Posted Sunday at 08:54 Share Posted Sunday at 08:54 We don’t get Europe this season he’ll be looking for a move in the summer, that can be said for 3 or 4 of our top players though. You won’t blame them either.

At the end of the day they will go where the money is, for example if Chelsea offered Isak a load of money and they didn't have champions league football I don't think that would stop him signing for them. Unfortunately we are never going to be able to pay the wages the big 5 clubs can or even Spurs for that matter . Obviously if we get champions league it would mean we could offer him more money to stay but it still might not be enough.

andycap Posted Sunday at 10:59 Share Posted Sunday at 10:59 That's what gets me if a club wants a player and he's not far off world class then pay the readies. Arsenal etc think they can get him on the cheap 😂 when they spunked near enough 70 million on havertz and think isak should be a similar price is laughable. Arsenal will know they’re not going to be able to get him on the cheap. Realistically if they’re going to actually win the league they need a striker and they’re going to have to pay big for one. Whether they can Isak is another thing because there’s a lot that can happen between now and the end of the season such as us getting champions league which would kill off any chance of him going. Arsenal will definitely target a striker next summer though.

I think Arsenal have to have an honest look at where they are too tbh, they have won exactly the same as us post takeover and are looking miles off it this season. I doubt Isak is overjoyed at the idea of being the new Peter Crouch in Arteta's expensive version of Pulis' Stoke
