I've always thought that Scandinavians have a Geordie twang when they speak English and just guessed that it was something to do with the Viking invasion without ever properly looking into it.

It is a bit but it's a blend of a lot of things, German from the Anglo-Saxons, Old English from what followed, Scottish from the countless invasions and Viking. Words from the Vikings include hyem and oot, seen as the words for the equivalent in Danish and Norwegian is hjem and ute/ud.
