The officiating seems to get worse year on year. Just watched the Coventry keeper barge into a couple of players at a corner, fall over and gets a FK.

I rewound Coventry's "second" goal about 5 times, and still couldn't see how the Wednesday keeper was impeded except by his own player. What did the ref really disallow it for?

Yeah he wasn't impeded, not even slightly. If anything, it was a foul by him, he was just weak and fell over. Keepers get beyond ridiculous protection nowadays. They didn't really say what the FK was for, embarrassing stuff.

Just had a gander at the BBC football page featuring the City v Salford game.

Nice photo of a delirious Jack Grealish hugging James McAtee. They look well chuffed with themselves.

Either celebrating Grealish's penalty to make it 4 zip or one of McAtee's to make it 5, 7 or 8.

Classy

Just seen the full time Man City score, normally i'd think it was grim, but given it's against the BTEC Man United it's pretty hilarious.

I take it you never saw John Charles put the keeper in the net with the ball and it was a goal every time? Not that i'm advocating a return to those days but giving FKs when there isn't even remotely a foul and no questions asked basically can take a fucking hike like.

Not even that far back. 70s and 80s keepers could be challenged on crosses basically as just another player. If the keeper dropped the ball undee pressuer it wasnt an automatic free kick because there was contact.

Yep for sure, he was just the first that came to mind. Also, good example of this, watch Andy Gray score in the 84 cup final against Watford. I'd wager there's no chance that's given today, even though there's no discernible foul and it's just a strong CF getting to the ball.
