If we beat Ipswich we go above Man City again and effectively a 6 point gap with the goal difference to Villa. Why are some people going on like this city win puts them miles clear

Villa fan at work said he’d much rather they got CL than win the FA Cup solely because of the revenue increase. Baffling.

If Villa qualify for the CL - they will challenge for the PL next season. Or at least be 75+ points IMO.

If they can keep this squad together, they can give it all a good go next season.

They are like us in the respect - they are almost one of the best teams in Europe. Keep what they have (including the loan players), maybe add 1 more quality piece. They are set. Don't qualify for the CL, don't keep the loan lads - it's another season fighting tooth and nail for CL, without the depth to challenge for 4 comps.

If only football was played on paper 😁

Just checked - Man City have only been beaten twice since January and one of those were Liverpool, they’re not going to drop another point.

If Villa manage to keep their loan players, I think they have an easier time putting a top 4 squad together compared to us

Looking at their current squad, and  add a top RB and probably a top CB and for me they're probably the 4th best team in the prem

Whereas for us we are a ST, RW, GK, CB, and then imo a CM and FB away from having the 2* quality in each position / limited drop off

Though Villa's wage bill is a good chunk bigger than ours, and hopefully we make CL for the 2nd time in 3 years.... So it's definitely way more complicated than I just laid out

Good Ebbening. So I recorded the City-Villa game as I was working. Set the recording at the last minute as I was busy as hell. This moron right here recorded the low definition Spanish language broadcast. At least I got to hear GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOALLLLLLL in added time as Villa get zero points.

Indeed, just put us in a better position is all.

Since mid-January they did only draw at Brentford and Old Trafford, and at home to Brighton, so they're not perfect. But I suspect you're right.

just making those loan players in to permanent signings will cost a fortune and very very high wages. They’ll have little room for much else or will need to sell. Can’t see them keeping both Rashford and Asensio.

Asencio was a straight loan, Rashford had an option to buy iirc. Think it'd be a mistake to take up the latter though.

PSG would love getting some money for Asencio.

No doubt, but not sure he'd be down for being a rotation option at an English club.

Idk he's been hyped to oblivion here plus it's better than rotting away in PSGS bomb squad

Sure I read on here that Villa do have an option to buy Rashford BUT if they decline that purchase they need to pay Brexit Jim £5m

Think that's Chelsea and Sancho with the £5m thing

Controversially I've not been that impressed by Villa. Considering the squad they have I feel they play very defensively in the big games I've watched to their own detriment.

Yes they might have got beaten heavily if they had gone more attacking, but against Bayern Munich, the 1st leg and most of the 2nd against PSG, last night against City. Plenty of times you can see them with like a back 6 with 4 Infront of that trying to be difficult to breakdown. But it looked like City were there for the taking for most of that game. Could argue they might have beaten PSG if they had been abit more adventurous and put them on the back foot more.

Emery is a good coach and they have a strong squad on paper. Just think they have been a tad too negative in the big games if I was a fan and I think they could have achieved even more.

Our loss to them for me was more about how poor we were on the day rather than anything special they did. Might sound bitter but I think if we had been at our best that day I think we would have beaten them.

I thought they were very defensive 2nd half when City were there for the taking. Villa have great squad depth though. Saturday was just a game too far for us I think.

Didn't help that we didn't have Botman to aggressively go into their half and cut off the direct ball into the likes of Rogers and McGinn.  He was so important doing that in the 3-1 win there last season.

Burn and Schar have been doing it most the season, as well.  But both got found lacking, not knowing whether to stick or twist and getting caught in no man's land.  They got zero help from Trippier tucking in or from the midfield screening in front of them.  Was all too disjointed and open.

Anyway, fuck them.  We can finish above them if we don't royally fuck this up.

Big Lloyd currently 1 down away to Parma. Squeaky bum time for their European spot. Level on pts with Lazio in 6th and only 2pts clear of Roma in 7th.
