NUFCDoog Posted Monday at 10:15 Share Posted Monday at 10:15 Stelling and Lineker both being gone does feel like a proper, not just era change, but shift change in terms of how football is presented. Not for the better.

Forest can’t keep fluking 1-0 wins for the rest of the season. They’re going to lose at least 3 of their remaining 7. I’m sticking with my call. 66 or 67 points will do it. I’m going to frame this. Stifler Posted Monday at 15:15 Share Posted Monday at 15:15 Surely it’s time to realise that Wembley is too big for games like this? I get that it’s probably the only chance these teams get to playing there, but the place is mostly empty. Surely it would be better sharing it around stadiums? Fans of smaller teams deserve their day at wembley just as much as Bigger ones. No fan of this wembley but it's still the place you want to be. NUFCDoog Posted Monday at 15:22 Share Posted Monday at 15:22 Yeah; I agree it's too big for games like this in terms of attendances however it's still a great day for those fans of smaller teams. Imagine getting to the final and instead of Wembley because you can't fill it the big day out is at Millwall instead. Wouldn't quite be as much of a spectacle. Optimistic Nut Posted Monday at 15:24 Share Posted Monday at 15:24 Much better seeing these at Wembley, FA Vase, FA Trophy, etc than an FA Cup Semi-Final.
Stifler Posted Monday at 15:26 Share Posted Monday at 15:26 (edited) Yeah I get that point. In reality though I’m not a fan of Wembley, I think it’s an overrated stadium. I also think it does nothing but add to the London-centric nature of the country. Everyone must travel to London for anything remotely important. I actually wish the FA sold the stadium to that NFL owner who would have created a London team. It would have been a great chance to reset the stadium situation by to getting the England games and finals held around the country on tour. ponsaelius Posted Monday at 15:33 Share Posted Monday at 15:33 Isn't there 50k there today for a fourth tier play off final? If anything that is a vindication of having it at Wembley over a small venue.

To be fair, I wasn’t advocating for it to be held at Millwall etc. SJP, Etihad, Anfield, Dicks stadium, Spurs’s stadium, London stadium, Emirates, and Old Trafford would all have been big enough without having 40k empty seats. Smal Posted Monday at 15:39 Share Posted Monday at 15:39 I think the fans of those clubs probably like getting to go to Wembley to be honest. Not sure it makes a jot of difference to the rest of us.
ponsaelius Posted Monday at 15:40 Share Posted Monday at 15:40 Maybe - but players at lower levels never get to play at Wembley. Nor do fans get a chance to go there. There is a cultural cache to this that shouldn't be overlooked. Plus surely hosting at other venues would just make money for those clubs?

Optimistic Nut Posted Monday at 17:11 Share Posted Monday at 17:11 (edited) I think FA Cup Semi Finals should be at neutral venues, England friendlies should be on the road, qualifiers against the minnows too. Play-Off & Non-league finals definitely belong at Wembley though. Edited Monday at 17:11 by Optimistic Nut

As would the Principality or Murrayfield, but I think it needs to be an English stadium for an English competition.

Smal Posted Monday at 19:12 Share Posted Monday at 19:12 England u17s 0-3 up against Czechia after 35 minutes. They need Italy to beat Belgium in the other game to qualify from the group stage - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/cn9jyx5pew1t#player unfortunately Belgium are winning too. The kid Dowman looks like the player HBA could’ve been.
