This all came about after people complained endlessly about how long the checks were taking.

 

And so now they just go with the decision on the field if they can get away with it, in the name of not slowing the game down.

I largely agree with this approach. If it’s somewhat debatable go with the onfield (for fouls)

I’d be fine with this approach. If refs actually returned to making the big decisions. Instead of just dogging it off and letting VAR sort it out.

The football is dreadful to watch.

 

I swear they're worse against low blocks than Newcastle too, despite all their more technical players. They just score a bunch of set pieces.
