Pick the bones out of that gentlemen. Turns out 66 points was enough but by christ we rode our luck today. The season is made up of 38 games and you end up where you deserve at the end of it all and we're in. Thank fuck for dodgy ref decisions and Man U suddenly waking up but we're in.

There's lessons to be learned from today and this season but for the time being we need to reflect on the whole season and figure out a way to improve things. Now is the time to kick back, enjoy the achievements of what's happened since the Schar/Diaz shit on opening day, it's been a bit of a rollercoaster but we did it and if you can't enjoy Champions League qualification AND a major trophy in the same season then when can you? It's been fucking epic overall and if you'd told me 5 years ago we'd have done this I'd have had you sectioned. This is fucking amazing :)

Amen brother!

Its the one thing Eddie needs to show in my opinion - A ruthless streak. So far he's stayed loyal to the good eggs who aren't that great on the pitch. I want to see the squad shaken up.

Disagree with this. We’ve not had the funds for him to be ruthless.

Absolutely.

Reactionary bullshit like "shake the squad up" is fucking rank patter. Unrealistic rank patter, at that.

Howe's had to stick by his entire squad from day1 and get them gelled as much as he can. He's done wonders.

Notwithstanding the diddlywacks wanting Mbeppe etc etc when we were bought, most people were/are happy at our progress being as near "organic" as possible. Even if some of that was forced on us by FFP/PSR it's still to the good.

FWIW I think all being ~fair~ it's Chelsea that are lucky and Villa can feel unfortunate about not getting in ahead of them. They're absolute nothing to write home about at all and although it's looking a gift horse in the mouth, it's annoying that they finished ahead of us.

Annoyed they’ve finished ahead of us again.  They have a high floor of technical quality and a steep squad built on FFP fraud.  But they are not a great side.

I feel like the fixture list was quite lucky for them. When they were out of form they faced lots of easier opponents and still won. Then the last few games they had a couple of "free wins", like Liverpool right after securing it and Man Utd right before a final.. Nothing is truly free, as we saw today, but you know what I mean.

Games against 8-14 cost us the title. This is where we need a squad

I would have preferred Chelsea to miss out as I think their “project” could have started to implode. The good players starting to push for moves out whilst the failures stay unsellable on enormously long contracts. The CL might satisfy their better players and keep them going

I want Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, then the weakest 2 from each of the other 3 pots. Think they're the two "elite" clubs we've never played competitively that I'd like us to see play.

I want to add Ajax to this.

I think they'll have loopholes and ways to spend huge regardless. I think it'll hurt Villa far more.

It’s not the money with them as much as the players having belief in what they are doing. There were rumours about Fernandez recently, am sure a few of them would start to ask what they’ve signed up for. Would they be able to convince other players to sign 7 year deals to play in the Europa next year?

What an absolute clunker of a performance. Deserve the luck for the achievements with such a limited squad. Weirdly thought it was one of Howe’s worse games when the achievement is so much to do with him, in hindsight that wasn’t a 3 at the back job.
