The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League

I still think Man Utd & Spurs will have a say..Granted they have been terrible all season but Ange and Amorim will want to stop the rot. They wont want to be going into a major  Final in negative fashion. Some of their fringe players will be wanting to impress and play in the final and also Ange and Amorim are probably fighting for their futures too Ange moreso

Virgin Bet have Villa and Chelsea double just under evens if anyone wants an emotional hedge. Whack Forest in and it’s over 3s.

Amorim will be in charge start of next season regardless. I hope you’re right though.

If Amorim wins the Europa I can see him walking away. Clearly not enjoying himself, can say he won something and go off and join a normal club.

I'm still having anxiety about those last 10 min of the Leicester 0-0 game 2 years ago.  We were absolutely smashing them up until that point, and they had nothing. Last 10 min we decided to "be smart" by passing it around the back instead, and lost the ball there couple of times only to concede big chances. Pope had to make a crazy save in the end.

That game was ridiculous. 78% possession, 23 shots (3 off the post), and 12 corners. They didn't have a shot until the 93rd minute and almost won it.

First of all I don’t think it will come to that but let’s say it does hypothetically . If we struggle to go a couple of goals up against Everton quite early on when we have to win, I don’t think I would survive watching us hanging on to a say 1-0 lead where we sit deep and struggle for control and getting out of our own third. It would kill me

That's what scares me already about that game. I can see us go 1-0 up, and then invite them into our box in the last 30 or so.  Would barely be able to watch that again. I do think we have a good shot at beating Arsenal though. I really hope we do. Just to remove any doubt.

Yeah, for sure. If the game goes like that vs Everton and we simply have average luck instead of what happened that day, we will be atleast 3-0 up by the time we reach 80 min anyways.

hoping WHam get a draw or win against Forest, then Forest beat Chelsea.

I can only see Forest beating Chelsea if they've got the win against West Ham.

I know in isolation they are all winnable games for our opponents, but to expect City, Chelsea, Villa and Forest to do as well as they all can from their remaining games isn’t as much of a ‘done deal’ as it seems.

I bet if you were to do an acca for 2 city wins, 2 villa wins, a win each for Chelsea and forest, and whatever you want from the Chelsea/forest game, it would be at least 15/1.

how many 15/1 bets are classed as bankers?

Point is that whilst it will be twitchy until the end, we will probably end up with CL even if we don’t get 3 points from here on in. We only need 3 to guarantee it, so I’m sure 2 draws would be enough.

Arsenal, City, Chelsea and Villa are all VERY LIKELY to get at least 69 points, so we would need one more win to guarantee top 5.

If Villa drop points this Friday, then obviously we would need one point only.

I agree with this, a draw against West Ham is only useful if Chelsea and Villa fail to win at home on Friday and those games are as close to being a done deal as you can get

From Oddschecker.

I still can't understand how Chelsea are shorter than Villa for top five. For that to happen then Chelsea surely have to win both of their games (without a striker), and in my opinion their games are much harder than Villa's.

They both have to win two games, in neither case they’re difficult games on form. But if Villa do it they still might not qualify. Villa have also lost key players.  Makes sense to me.

I’m not sure Villa and Chelsea both winning both games is ‘very likely’. It could happen of course, but also probably won’t.

Happy to back 2 Chelsea wins and 2 Villa wins just to have compensation for last day stress levels.

We will beat Everton either way and may even win at Arsenal.

Both have relatively winnable games but Chelsea have a miles better goal difference.

Yeah its so silly, chances for that to happen according to the bookies atleast are going to be like 10-20%.

Just placed a bet on Chelsea+Villa this friday where i will almost double my money if they both win. And those two games are by far easier than the two after.

finishing second with a trophy to celebrate this season would be a monumental achievement

the only slight downside to that is people's expectations - it's unlikely we repeat that next season and then you get people questioning Howe's future at the club and all the usual shite

I'm not expecting a title challenge next season and just worry Howe might become a victim of his own success

balancing European football with domestic will be difficult

I guess with so many teams for so many positions it’s hard for us to clearly understand our chances. But we do tend to assume every other team is going to collect loads of points.

If we get Champions League next season then it will be interesting to see how we approach the cup competitions. Winning the cup this season was incredible but to challenge long-term I'd sacrifice the cups early on to again qualify for the Champions League. Two consecutive seasons in the Champions League would transform the club.
