I really dont see why their January results should be so much more relevant than their December results. Whether you count the games from March, February, December or the start of the season they will all show that they won half of their games. Its only when you start from January they will have good stats. Its you I would say that are focusing too much on that particular period.

Feeling bad about this run in for us, as we did lose quite a bit of games 6 months ago. We're out of form.

I think a lot of the pessimism is rooted in wanting this to be handled comfortably. We just had a worst case scenario weekend (after a brilliant week) and we're still 4th. Our next game is at home against one of the worst teams in the league and we play once a week for the rest of the season.

The reason the betting odds still like us and why so many predictors come out in our favor is we're still in a very strong spot, but that includes all the permutations where we qualify on the final day by a point or by GD. It might be a little torturous but I'm still very confident.

fulham and Spurs annoyed me this week as they should've beat forest and Chelsea but mentally they're heads are elsewhere. We can't rely on other teams as their seasons are over when it comes to the league.

It's been an awful prem season. the only thing making it entertaining in the ucl challenge. the league is over for the other 15 teams.

You are arguing against yourself since you are relying on results from January to make City look they are in such a good form. Over the last couple of months they havent looked like a team that are dominating their games, and the results show the same.

Pretty sure there will be a few twists and turns yet.

Probably could do with Man City winning tomorrow.

Hopefully Everton do something for us Saturday and we should beat Ipswich things could look a little different Saturday evening.

True but we are so close now that it will feel like a disappointment to miss out on CL especially if there are no PSR issues it may give us chance to really push on. However, at the start of the season if you offered me the cup and a top 6/7 finish which "should" be guaranteed I would have snapped your hand off for it.

It's crazy how one game can change everyone's mindset. Was only a few days ago when people were talking about chasing down Arsenal for 2nd. I still have faith in this team and it's not Newcastle without a few bumps along the way.

Regardless of where we finish, it's been a superb season. We have a team that we can be proud of.

Would have been delighted with 10th or below if it came with a cup win. Everything else is a bonus in my eyes.

Win the home games and that’s all we will need.

Pretty much agree with this the only worry is holding on to top players like Isak and Tonali, if where not in the CL it could enable teams to turn their heads, though I’m confident PIF will dig heels in due to length still on contracts.

I'm convinced we beat Ipswich and Chelsea, and that if we need points versus Everton to get the job done that we'll get them as they have absolutely nowt to play for. That'll do it IMO.

We're long overdue a result at Brighton too and they've been very patchy this season and will have no Pedro on the day.

Bad weekend for us but it's still in our hands and I think we'll do it.

You're right of course, I just don't think anyone was expecting how much we were outplayed against Villa. A draw or City win would leave Villa either 4 or 5 points behind if we beat Ipswich. This is a massive gap with only then 4 to play and a far superior goal difference.

Chelsea at home is also an absolute must win, as if we do, then they will have to make up 5 points from Saturday until the end of the season. We have the same goal difference currently, but that Chelsea match will count as double goals in reality either way.

We are still in a very good position to qualify, other teams around us will drop points and we have just got to make sure that we don't let this massive opportunity slip away. Qualification into the champions league, will probably result in a big difference to our incoming summer transfers

Grand scheme of things is that CL qualification probably trumps winning the League Cup in terms of what it means for the club's mid to long term future.

Spurs fans likely wrote similar for several years in the 2010s

Top is most recent. A continuation of this with those fixtures that they have left gets them top 5, it's as simple as that. They just need to keep picking up points like they have been doing, nomatter how much you try to bend it to seem like their results have been bad lately. If bad form means not winning every single game, then yes, in that world their form isn't good.

Again you are cutting of the results at a point where its convenient for your argument, include the game before and you will get the same 50% win ratio im talking about.

Im not saying that City are in bad form or that I dont think that they will make it into top 5. Im saying that its far from certain that they will win the rest of their games other than Villa.  They havent shown that kind of dominance at all. Infact I think its more likely than not that they wont do it.

So if they were to draw against Villa it would leave us in a good position to finish ahead of them, which might be needed in certain scenarios.

I still probably would prefer City to win though, as it would leave it much more up us getting a good result vs Chelsea. Which I think is very achievable. But a draw has its upsides aswell.

If we don't beat Ipswich, we don't deserve CL. Yes that's one win, but the picture would be much brighter with a win.

We win home games we get top 5. I just can’t see Chelsea and Villa (this is dependent on City beating Villa) getting more points than us over those games if we get 9 from them. Basically means Villa / Chelsea have to win every game which they’ve not shown this season being capable of.
