The table since the day before we beat Leicester in December:

We are good side.

That table after 38 would make my day, it would be, the best position I think since the Entertainers.

Man U last day of the season.

But win or lose the Europa I can't see them turning up. Forget it. Villa 69 points.

Aye you're probably right

Absolutely feeble for them 2 set of bastards to finish 16th and 17th. They deserve relegated to league one with the resources they've got

Still think Man U hold Villa on the final day. They never win there and Amorim can’t just keep losing every single game.

To think that the players wont give a fuck at home in the last game of the season is weird.

They are also shit. Don’t forget that.

a shit team either hungover from a cup win or low morale from losing.

impossible to go in mentally 100%. And again.  They are shit. Villa are good.

Everton may not be great, but they're also a different team since Moyes arrived. Think they'd park the Megabus also, and that's where we can struggle.

I'd much rather we brought the thunder to Arsenal and took them down a peg, so the last game is more of a party rather than a decider.

Howe has Arteta's number and Arsenal are sliding right now. Anyway, so much more exciting to not have to worry about trying to scrape together a few draws here and there like in our relegation seasons.

Plus, if by bad luck we do only get Europa, at least we could probably spawn our way to a trophy and CL the season after. So, not the end of the world even if the worst happens.

The top teams are all in a state of flux, either with clear positional gaps (compared to their normal squad options) or, say with Liverpool, players possibly no longer likely to play as well (Salah) or at all (TAA).
I am going to say it, how many players do you think we need to be credible challengers for the title? Three is my reassuringly, and astoundingly, small number.

3/4 to have a starting 11 good enough, squad is nowhere near though imo.

Agree. Unless there are a couple of stellar youngsters to come through to bolster the rotation options, we’ll go through peaks and troughs like the 23/24 season.

Hopeful that we get some minutes from the Shahar, Sanusi and Alabi’s of this world. Presumably a nicer cup draw or two would help.

They have put all their focus on Europa. Think its an open question how they will respond after that is over.

In all seriousness, they cant be that shit when they made it to the Europa League final. Got to have something going on.

I think 3 of the right level this season might have had us challenging or at least giving the top two a fright.

But not with CL / Europa and playing twice a week again.

If Man Utd have LOST the final then I can see them putting in a good performance against Villa and maybe getting a point.

If they win that they'll be checked out completely. Villa will walk over them.

Adding 3-4 and keeping who we want will give us the squad.

I think we are 3 quality players away from being as good Arsenal and Liverpool. 1 pacy quality defender.  Another bionic midfielder with ability. And another attacker - preferably a creator like a left footed Cunha. With that we could win a 85 point league imo.

In fact - if we ‘just’ signed a Cunha/Palmer level player. Another top quality technician that wants the ball at all times. It would add another dimension and we could have a challenge.

This is why I’m so keen on CL.  The best teams in the division are only 1 or 2 quality players above us. We’ll have a small squad and need a bit of luck.  I think every team apart from peak City need that bit of luck with injuries.

Other than the fact there's a few players leaving this summer, I'm not sure 3/4 additions would cut it. That would just replace what we lose.

I could easily see 7/8 players coming in this summer. Not all first team starters obviously. But all players who will be in the matchday squad.

Willock, Longstaff, Wilson, Trippier, Barnes, Dubravka, Vlach, Targett, Pope (if we bring in a #1)

All players linked away or out of contract. That's NINE players that need replacing potentially.

Think Any PL side in the top 12 would have a decent crack at making the Europa league final this season. They wouldn’t have got to the final last year with Atalanta and Leverkusen.

It’s genuinely harder to win a domestic cup this season.

At least 3 of our 4 wins against Spurs/Man U were ‘live’ games. We smashed a live Man U at OT.  We are good. But that is insane.

That won’t happen if we qualify for the CL.

We would have just qualified for the CL and won a cup. Why would we make wholesale changes?

Because the quality gap between starters and the rest is too big? One of these summers there will need to be a large amount of turnover to get the squad ready for consistent European campaigns.

We had an awful injury record with a small squad and got 60 points. Thats our floor. 60 points.

Keep what we have. Add 3 or 4 quality players. Maybe 1 or 2 youngsters and we could challenge.

Had we had Tonali firing all season, we would’ve got close to mounting a title challenge this season alone.  We need bodies. But not 6 or 7.

We didn’t need anything against Villa which is why it will be in our hands in GW38 no matter what happens next week.

Everton are still shit.

2 wins in 11  games. A fair few draws but other than Forest, they've been losing to the other top 6 teams. We'll be fine.

We just haven't been that side. We aren't that side.

It's Chelsea and Forest that have been the poorest over the last 20 GW's or so and I think are most likely to have a twist go against them. Villa have been brilliant and have 2 of the best matches coming up. I expect Man U to win the Europa, so will have a hangover on the last day.... and they are shit. It's all coming up Villa.

That’s why i just have a fear regarding a last day twist. Villa are currently in the worst league position of the four of us (NUFC, Man City, Chelsea, Villa) yet most will say they are the ones who are going to make it due to their two remaining fixtures.

So that leaves two spots for us Man City and Chelsea. They’ve got better fixtures than us IMO.

It’s in our hands and we’ve two bites at it so can’t complain. Amazing season. Was just weird looking at the league table after the weekend feeling not that much better off than before it!
