If we can stay in the mix until the window opens, I'm hoping we have learnt our lesson and know who we need to (Miggy,Wilson, dubz) move on and use whatever psr bollocks allows

You’d hope Almiron will be more open to a move now considering how little he has played.

I think Villa now see how fucking brutal a PL/CL campagin can be and injuries/ squad depth makes or breaks you

I just don't think Villa have clicked this season, much like us until the last few games. They have been struggling with trying to fit all of their best players into the starting eleven. They were lucky to beat both Everton and Wolves at home and only took a point at Ipswich. They did look much better against Liverpool, despite the loss.

This time last year we were at Bournemouth having just come back from Dortmund with no striker, two keepers, Ritchie, Parkinson and Alex Murphy on the bench. As far as I'm aware Villa currently have four injured, three of which are due back next game.

Champions League and the travel it involves does take it out of you, but they've had a relatively easy set of games so far (Bayern aside) and certainly haven't the injury issues we had. Looking back, Eddie performed wonders last year.

The games we were playing last season compared to the fixture lists this time around make it seem like we were in a completely different competition.

I am fixated on the Liverpool game. Under the lights at SJP only three days after they play City at home, which is going to be billed as a title decider. We play on the Saturday, so an extra day of rest. Midweek before that they play Real Madrid. Three days after we play them they have Everton away.

It's an incredible opportunity to beat them and it will be even better if we can take six points off West Ham and Palace.

That, most definitely, is the spirit.

3-0 at half time, and then a certain Uruguayan striker comes on. We all know what happens next.

I feel optimistic about a top four place. The last three games haven't been dazzling, but the players have shown a certain faith in one another and the system that they've been asked to play which augurs well. I get the sense that we can now pick up points from anywhere.

All game by game, but a win MNF and 6th (1 point off UCL spaces), feels a big momentum swing going into the winter run which usually decides how the 2nd half of the season will go.

I.e. A drift where we need to close down to make Europe, or in the positions and maintain, focusing just on league (a la 22-23).

we’ve been insanely wasteful in front of goal

Total reversal from last season where we scored and conceded loads , struggling to make sense of it all.

Is there a stat for actual result against your xG? Guessing we will be well down the table for that.

We are not getting Europe this season, and I’ve made my peace with that. The last 2 games have seen all optimism drained from me.

EDIT: Instead I’m looking forward to seeing how we handle the rebuild, starting this summer.

After the easiest start to the season in years and relatively few injuries. We will need to find our identity soon because the season's not going to get easier from here.

Not sure we have an identity anymore tbh.

Think my interest in this season mostly evaporated with the West Ham result. We’re not getting CL

December/January will be miserable, top off with being battered by Arsenal or Liverpool in League Cup SF. Then we will hit some run in March onwards, that coincides with a FA Cup QF exit away to one of the big sides, and we end season 9th with a shrug of the shoulders.

I still have belief we can turn it round and snatch a Europe spot.

Based on blind optimism .

2/10. Think we've already dropped too many points against poor opposition and still have to go away to Man City, Man Utd, Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool and Villa so think we'll fall short again but you never know.

Yep and two upcoming transfer windows where we’re sell to buy.
