I hope he goes on to have a brilliant career, and looks back on his time here fondly. Anthony Gordon is an example of Newcastle getting recruitment and selling right in order to grow the club. He dragged CBs out constantly which opened lanes for both Salah and Mane to attack. With Diaz it became way more about him carrying the ball wide beating players and destabilizing so Salah could end the move. I'm just not buying that Diaz was less productive at Liverpool because everything was built around Salah. No chance. He often got himself into great positions and was very hit and miss. Seems like a bit of a cop out to try and minimise the fact that Gordon has been more productive in the Prem, despite playing in a lesser team. I would as well, but it's hard to argue that we shouldn't try to. If this was the end of 24/25 I'd be saying give it another season, but it's gone on too long now and the pool of potential replacements is massive.
