Can't get my head around Anthony Gordon playing in an El Classico man. Imagine how many penalties he'd win in La Liga.

Nobody was option 1, 2 or 3 when Mo Salah was there who Klopp had nearly everything built around.  The reason Diaz looks so good at Bayern is also the fact that Olise is also a creator for others and Kane himself is too. Salah had loads of assists but he always was going for goal over passing.

Disagree completely.

Mane seemed to do just fine playing in the same system and the same position and was far more productive, before Diaz then took over. Diaz at Liverpool had a reputation for being very hit and miss when in great positions as he was very inconsistent.

Whilst he’s had his ups and downs, he has been a major part of our success over the past few seasons and is extremely difficult to replace. I hope he goes on to have a brilliant career, and looks back on his time here fondly. Anthony Gordon is an example of Newcastle getting recruitment and selling right in order to grow the club. This is a clear pathway for emerging talent to follow.

Sure. In addition in this case is he really that good or has he been dialling it in for a while?

I don't think we can understate how important it is that it looks like we're selling abroad. 90% of the problem with the Isak sale was that we were selling to a team we had/have ambitions to compete with.

Aye so true, good luck to the lad, hard graft pays off and we are taking advantage of it, hopefully we have as much talent in our transfer team to take advantage of it.

If not, go and get the blokes from Bournemouth

Not really the same system though. By the time Diaz became the LW the attack was way more Salah focused and Firmino was no longer at his peak either.

Prime Firmino glued everything together. He dragged CBs out constantly which opened lanes for both Salah and Mane to attack. Mane was basically a second striker off the left making constant back post and inside runs so defenses had to respect both sides equally. Mane was arguably as good as Salah then.

With Diaz it became way more about him carrying the ball wide beating players and destabilizing so Salah could end the move.

Mane was definitely more ruthless in the box but people act like Diaz was meant to be into the exact same role when the whole front 3 dynamic had already changed.

I'm just not buying that Diaz was less productive at Liverpool because everything was built around Salah. No chance. He often got himself into great positions and was very hit and miss.

Seems like a bit of a cop out to try and minimise the fact that Gordon has been more productive in the Prem, despite playing in a lesser team.

We need to hold out for top money here, hes got 4 years left on his contract and two of Europe's biggest clubs and possibly Liverpool want him, string it out for the full summer if needs be.

Can't believe clubs like Bayern and Barca are in for him really. If they want inconsistency, be our guests. Thank you for the money, and good bye.

Good fee, but I'd be surprised if we manage to replace him properly.

I would as well, but it's hard to argue that we shouldn't try to. If this was the end of 24/25 I'd be saying give it another season, but it's gone on too long now and the pool of potential replacements is massive.

I think we fucked about with Isak because Howe was convinced he would stay, Gordon has been dropped for a month so everyone knows hes gone, we need to milk this just like Brentford did with us last year
