Anthony Gordon (now playing for FC Barcelona)

Happy with that, good money, quick sale, sold abroad and it was over so swiftly that the tortellini toucher barely got erect for it.

It's a strange feeling, I think we've just sold our best attacking player, yet I don't feel like we've regressed much for it, I suppose it means I don't think it'll take much to replace him. It's easy to say that now I suppose, it's a different animal when I see that we used the money to buy Dewsbury-Hall and Alex Iwobi

Fair play, I think between his last interview with us and a few remarks during his Barca presentation he's handled this incredibly well.

He was very complimentary about us and our role in making him better and it seems clear this was the dream move for him. I can almost forgive the past season and just accept it as water under the bridge.

I hope he smashes it (apart from when we play him).

I’m genuinely pleased for him.

Whatever people think of him, moving to Barcelona is a huge achievement for any player. Barcelona is unquestionably a bigger club than Newcastle and one of the giants of world football. I'm surprised he was on their list.

I’m also glad the move appears to have been handled professionally by all parties. There’s been no public drama, no forcing an exit, and both Gordon’s camp and the club seem to have conducted themselves properly throughout.

He gave us some good moments and played a big part in getting the club back into Europe.

That said, I don’t think he leaves as one of the great Newcastle left wingers. For me, players like Ginola and Robert generated a level of excitement and magic that Gordon never quite reached.

Good player, good servant, and a fantastic move for him. I wish him well. It’ll be fascinating to see how he performs in a team surrounded by players who are significantly better than the ones he’s been playing with at Newcastle.

Last season when he got us to the cup final ?

He got us there?  I think it was more than Gordon.  We saw how good he could be in the 23/24 season but was inconsistent after that. Just didn't look interested.

What people saw as a lack of effort and application, I always saw as his greatest Achilles heel, which was a fragile mentality.

He was always desperate to do well and was always prone to trying too hard and doing too much, and when things didn't come off early and things weren't going well for him, unfortunately he tended to fold rather quickly.

All of this was far worse with the more responsibility that fell on his shoulders. He just hadn't quite yet figured that whole thing out, and so Newcastle never quite saw his fully realised potential.

Having said that he still had plenty of good moments and has ultimately become a better player than the one that joined. I expect that in a team that dominates more and has a number of other players that can be difference makers, he'll do much better as there'll be far less pressure on him individually.

I liked him as a player and was eager to see him mature further and overcome that mental block. It's good to see things end on a good note and nice to hear that he enjoyed himself at the club and recognized that it was a good and beneficial move for him.

Hope he does well and things work out well for him. Think he's a good lad that's terribly misunderstood.

Great deal all round I think. Also reckon that he will do really well there and I’m confident that we will recruit well this summer. Quite excited for next season, surely can’t be worse than the one just been 😂

Everywhere else reporting it is £69m plus the add ons, though?

I know but the details being put out now are vague and Sky Sports are the only ones I have seen making this clear distinction. Hopefully they are wrong as it starts to look like not such a great fee!
