Anthony Gordon (now playing for FC Barcelona)

Bet Hansi Flick checked in with Tuchel about him too, just like the Bayern bunch did, which would have helped this along.

Thanks for everything Ant

No hard feelings and good money to receive for him. Softens the blow that it's for a club outside England.

I suppose there is a chance Gordon could have a stellar WC, but there is an equally decent chance he gets overshadowed by Rashford all tournament.

Get the farking deal done, sign Bowen for half the money and let's get on with it.

How much do you reckon you get Bowen for? £30million? Less?

Fair fee for him and I wish him well. A little inconsistent for us obviously but no doubt he was a big part of our success over past few years. When he was "on" he was an excellent player for us.

Agree. Been inconsistent this last season and some other patches, possibly head turned lately.. but he’s served us well plenty times and a canny profit if all goes smoothly

Weird to be so unbothered about a player of his status leaving. And I backed him pretty much throughout.

Think it’s just because of the latter part of this season TBH.

Not exactly the age profile we’re apparently looking at is he. Absolutely no value in signing Bowen.

It's weird to say of a player leaving for 80m, but his departure won't sting me anything close to what Isak did.

For all the improvement Gordon has made as a footballer, he doesn't feel like one of the pillars of the club post takeover. He missed both cup finals due to his own stupidity and while he did very well in the Champions League this season, the penalty against Qarabag really did feel like him drawing a line between himself and the squad.

Maybe that's the ruthless streak you need to reach a team like Barcelona, maybe it's not. Either way, the money we're getting for a player who clearly felt like his time here was done is brilliant.

Not completely sure but FWIW, Transfermarkt has him at 35M. Summerville (who I also like) is 30M. There are some decent players to consider on the relegated teams.

I think bowen will have a sickeningly low relegation release clause. Might even be £30m or less. He won't play for another London club as his FIL will knock him aaat. Doubt his Mrs would fancy it too far north either. Might be surprised though. Dyers getting a box at SJP would make for some good stories

And I've never actually seen Bowen play that well... Always seems to score though

Was thinking this same thing today. The season’s been so shite (us and football generally) that I can’t get overly bothered about anyone leaving us. Bruno and Hall would piss me off, probably Miley, the others….

Get you more goals and assists than Gordon on a regular basis...

I fancy Summerville more as he's only 24, but there's also a nagging part of me that recognizes he's a pacey winger best suited to breaking against teams on the counter, and we signed one of those last season

Barely played though. We ideally don't want players of that age but we need leaders replacing in the squad and we need people to set the bar. Bowen is one of those and for £30m let's say, I think it'd perhaps be a smart move, even if to only last us a couple of years whilst we readjust and go again.
