Wish we could start ripping off teams a tad with fees

you could argue we ripped off Liverpool ;)

outside the premier league £70m plus add ons plus sell on fee is a great deal for Gordon. Barcelona rarely spend big on players. According to a quick search (likely wrong) Barca have only signed 6 players £70m or over

Feel very strange about this one. Hard to put a finger on it.

Feel a tinge of disappointment that he never really came close to fulfilling his potential with us but maybe he was never that good or likely to get there anyway. Best for all concerned this deal, he's clearly wanted away for a while, can't do much better than selling abroad for a reasonable fee.

Fernández-Pardo probably the leading target replacement

Isn't he a striker?

This is a fantastic advert for Newcastle for young players with drive and potential. We signed Anthony Gordon as someone with potential, hounded out of his old club (literally), and was allowed to showcase himself and as a result moves to Barcelona.

These sorts of player progression stories are what will allow us to bring across other players in a similar mould. We will benefit from their drive and ambition, and then we can profit on any potential sale.

We need to be seen as a platform like this until we become the club that players in their peak want to sign for.

Are you a cheeky little ITK?

Not really like. There are some things I get 2nd hand that journalists won't/can't put out there, but this is one that's already out there anyway I think, so not really insightful.

LW who played as makeshift striker towards the end of the season.

Glad he's going abroad, he'd definitely win a million pens against us if he stayed in the PL.

Additionally a sell on fee is smart, can see him staying a few years then moving back to Liverpool/Arsenal etc

I like the future sale percentage, as opposed to percentage of profit on sale. So when he goes to Liverpool or Chelsea in 2-3 years we pocket some cash.

I think he could surprise everyone next season, Flick will mould him into something better.

Don't think that would be much of a surprise, a new coaching voice and a less physical league will suit him no doubt.

£60m is laughable. I know people say don't compare other fees but £55m for Elanga. I feel sick at the thought. Club is flying backwards at this rate.

You can’t use Elanga as a benchmark for other fees, we grossly overpaid for him and are mugs for doing it.

Will remember him for this goal mainly, no hard feelings from me toward him.

Isak passing and movement for that, man. I really hope last year wasn't our golden year and that's our peak.

Good price to invest in new players.

Gordon, thank you and good luck. You'll need it, the Barca fans are going to hate you and your horrendous passing, hope it goes well though.

Shame we didn't do this a while back and kept MInteh and Anderson, live and learn.

Goes with my best wishes. He came, he delivered some tremendous performances and we’re selling him on at the right time for a decent profit.

You can argue he could’ve done more, and his general demeanour is downright bizarre sometimes. Both are valid. However he didn’t go on like a massive twat (publicly anyway) when we fucked him around during our PSR crisis.

Not quite sure how the new SCR works or whatever the new PSR is called. Sounds like a decent sum in if his book value is 13m and some eye drops.
