A ban from CL for a decade would need to be added.  Also transfer ban for 5 years.

Not sure if it’s in their remit, but add a ban for them singing blue moon for 10 years and have all physical and digital coppies of Martin Tyler shouting aguero destroyed.

in fact fuck the first one, just the aguero one.

It really shouldn't be a related party transactions, but the scope of the rules are wide enough that it could be.

How so specifically? Seems oddly discriminating, to the point of being racist, to argue that all clubs and companies from the same nationality as a club's owners are related parties.

I don't think they would to be honest, but if they were to take a broad scope, the PL gave themselves a bit of a catch all with a party who "is otherwise than at arm’s length", which is incredibly subjective.

It can include clubs who are indirectly controlled or materially influenced by the same government, public or state-funded body or by the same party.

KSA isn’t a free country and it doesn’t function as one.  It’s a dictatorship.  It wouldn’t exactly be a stretch to say that Al-Shabab would be under the influence of the govt - and regardless of the shite that the PL eventually accepted, the PIF is a govt kitty ran by the effective HoS

I'm pleased I live in the UK where our government puts its citizens needs first.

I mean apart from -

Increased poverty, higher prices and shrinkflation, homelessness, reduction in public services and deteriorating quality of roads, parks, libraries, the shortage in nursing and school staff, frightening levels of inequality that they don’t understand because it doesn’t affect them, increased levels of racial abuse, failure to reform the police, NHS waiting lists, wastage of public funds, reduced funding for HMRC leading to people getting away with tax avoidance, persecution of LGBT (especially trans) people, and the big one – BREXIT, which is a disaster. Harder and more expensive to go abroad now.

They are doing a cracking job.

Al Shabab is owned by a member of the Dubai royal family.

Not as shambolic as all the endless fucking arguing about it.

Considering it's the biggest hurdle the club is facing, I think it's valid people arguing about it.

FFP is such a shambolic thing.

Why it works fine. City are going to sign a player owned by feeder club a that's on loan at feeder club b for a knockdown bargain £10m in the summer. All is good in FFP land

Zero time for moral relativism.  Anyone who seriously thinks that a country which executes people for thinking that their govt is shite is the same as one where the govt is shite but they can vote them out isn’t serious.

I’m aware of all the issues in the UK.  I’m a democratic socialist, I hardly agree with what has been going on.  But to compare that to a brutal dictatorship is an insult to those who are oppressed by one.

edit: you’d literally shit your pants if you lived in KSA.  Not a single thing you’ve written about the UK govt could you have written across there without fear of arrest, potentially with execution at the end of it.

I’m with you on that mate - but honestly, the UK govt being morally and ethically bereft isn’t the same as a country which has pretty recently executed people by means of beheading for the ‘crime’ of witchcraft and sorcery.  Cosplaying as Harry Potter is a capital punishment over there …

I don't know the story behind that or how it came about, but I don't think we should praise a society that enables us to have free speech when no fucker listens.

I fear we have traded that right to allow our leaders to extort us from rights we actually need

With  more than 30,000 members of the Saudi royal family, including 4,000 princes, I expect most institutions and large companies in SA are owned by them.

Needless to say, Middle Eastern countries like SA, Kuwait, UAE, Bahrain and Qatar don't have a whole lot in common with Western Europe.

I’m not praising the UK govt, I am though saying that it is less shit than an atavistic theocratically-driven dictatorship

Absolutely love how every thread gets derailed by people talking about FFP and loads (quite rightly) not understanding how amortisation works. If only all of us had taken up accounting as a hobby instead of football, we would be like pig in shit right now.

For me it isn’t about accounting or amortisation, it’s about anti competitive rules that protect the already wealthy clubs in what they see as their entitled positions.

With little movement this window, I wonder if smaller clubs who factor in selling players as part of their business model will start to agitate for change to FFP? We could soon get to a point where only a few clubs, mainly US owners, are in favour of the current rules.

Think back to Ashley, he was trying to have a model where we sold players on for big profits, only problem is that he was shit at implementing the plan.

I don’t think so, most of the let’s call them less ambitious clubs in the league don’t over stretch themselves and run the risk of being in breach.

Remember FFP is beneficial for most of the league, the only ones who dislike are the upstarts.
