Anyone else feel like demanding a statement from the club?

You lead the way, mock up one of those flags with Barnesy on it to show we mean business

Tbf letting this get down to the last 48 hours is very bad.

They've clearly fucked up and deserve criticism. Nobody made us spend >100mm on Tonali and Barnes last summer.

Anyone think we may have been hoping someone activated Bruno’s release clause ?

Put it this way, I wouldn't rule it out. PR-wise it would have been a clean way of solving any problems while coming out as the good guys.

There was a definite change in the music being played around Jan-Feb. Prior, there were regular briefings acknowledging a big sale may be required to continue our momentum. After then, the talk was all about Bruno's feelings and how we didn't need to sell. All well and good, but seemingly we actually did need a big sale, which undermines the idea the club was reluctant.

I see the fanny meltdown in overflow today. Let's just wait and see what actually happens first. We will know for sure next week and then we can start the finger pointing then (if required). Luckily I don't listen to any journalists/media so I take everything that's said by them with a massive pinch of salt.

The meltdown is crazy, all this based on paper talk from the Sun and The Chronicle(same owner), self proclaimed PSR experts and sky sports panel opinion experts.

The truth and only truth is we don’t know shit about our FFP/PSR situation and if you think the people that run this club would even let that us fall fowl of a PSR overspend then give your head a shake.

Will it be tight, fucking hell yeah but they know what they’re doing.
Where playing 4D Chess guys, don’t forget.

The biggest worry is when you get the likes of romano saying gordon is open to the move.

Seems like the people in charge of us aren't as competent as we're led to believe.

I’m not sure if it’s competence. But they are not perfect.  Not by a long shot. Mistakes have clearly been made. We should’ve shifted lads in the winter when we had the chance.

a lot of people seem to think there’s some kind of infallible masterplan. That’s not the case. Nobody plans to be in this position.

We’ll see who goes in the end, but regardless my confidence in the board has been shaken a bit. The NE journalists are clearly being briefed to some degree.

Overall, think it’s a shabby look for the club to be so outwardly desperate ahead of such a well-publicised deadline.

I think this is conflating the elation of non-Ashley operating board plus probably some luck. Staveley is unlikely a great operator. I can't speak for most senior appointees or their influence, but the only one of which I share domain expertise they messed up. It's probably not that much different from most clubs.

They’re clearly fucked up???

All we have is stories from journos who have been more wrong than right under this regime and you’ve already concluded they’ve clearly fucked up?  How’s about wait until the dust settles and are where we are

Especially as, if you look at our sellable players, Almiron and Bruno are at the Copa America, Gordon & Trippier are at the Euros, Minteh is apparently on holiday. We presumably knew about all of those, so why are we apparently scrabbling about with a day or two left?

I appreciate the faith. I hope you're right, I'm wrong.

Aye it’s bad.  I thought Villa had messed up and they’ve been sorting out deals for weeks. We’ve messed it up worse.

I'm still baffled as to how we're not circumventing all the rules willy nilly. We're owned by Saudi Arabia and the #1 Tory Party donor. They must know every trick in the book - funneling money through casinos, buying post-modern anti-art for hundreds of millions, secretly filming Richard Masters receiving footjobs from underage girls etc. How are we still bound by the rules for goodness' sake?

We can't go into Michael Michael McIntyre's The Wheel Series 2, Episode 14 without a statement being released.

FFS. Gat a grip everyone.

We probably have £100M in sponsorship deals awaiting approval on Master's desk with us threatening a court case to follow on from Man City's. If we are close to ffp then it is down to Masters & the PL not allowing the sponsorship deals. Its a smoke screen to highlight the cartel stranglehold.

We need everyone together. Stop saying they are incompetent. They know what they are doing.

Of course it may be that they are playing us because we may have a deal for 'The Aramco Arena' or the 'Saudia Stadium' and trying to show the worst case scenario first. Anyone pick a Gordon sale over St James with 30 hours to go

Whatever it is this a play by the club, I'm sure of it
