I think it’s fair to assume that the club will be on it. I know a training kit/ground sponsor is annoying people, but these are top business people at the club, there will be a reason why they haven’t done it yet. It’s not we are under Ashley, and Charnley anymore. I don’t think it is fair to assume that tbh. The jury very much remains out in regards to sponsorships etc imo. Keegans Export
The "waiting for the rules to change" argument has run it's course a while back imo If they've held off on key sponsors eg. Training kit on the basis that they'll get more if/when the rules change, how much more are they going to have to bring in to cover three years of missing potential income? Pablo
Ideally they needed staged growth rather than big bang. Strategically that allows us to grow with every window as we make more signings, grow our wage bill etc. Sadly we didn’t grow our revenues quickly enough for the last season. A massive influx of income now would be useful, but isn’t as big a game changer as it would appear unless there remains further income growth over upcoming cycles. I completely agree we should have had a training kit, training ground and SJP sponsorship in place by now. I suspect we have tried and the Premier League have refused us. I still trust the process, but it is frustratingly slow, and expectations need to be reigned in.

Would potentially have big Saudi companies looking to get their names out in advance of that, and the PL would have less argument about big sponsors with that event in the future? Saudi Airlines feels a slam dunk bigger sponsor, and it linked to World Cup. Already do in some capacity, but it to be ramped up. Fly Saudi World Cup 2034. Suppose it depends on what the value and the locking in would be. Summer 2022, £30m a year, 10 year deal. Summer 2025, £45m a year 8 years deal. Same value (if you take the missed two years) on its face value (no bonuses), but in same time frame, the jump up from £45m to £70m more achievable then £30m to that. There is no evidence of any "refusal" (I'm sure it would have strongly been leaked from somewhere) and in any case under the old rules they could not refuse it, only 'reduce it' to some fantasy FMV figure. Under the new rules WE set the figure and they (EPL) have to prove it is not FMV (if they can) which is much more difficult for them and easier for us to dispute. Why would we tie ourselves in for 10 years? A one-year training kit sponsor for £2m would have covered Bruno's wage rise for the year and then some. And is considerably better than £0m. If we'd signed a £5m/year deal for 3 years for the training ground, maybe we'd have been able to keep Minteh? So now not only have we lost the potential income from that deal, we're going to have to spend a load of money brining a winger in.
TRon
1 hour ago, Sima said: Said it before, I haven’t seen any evidence to suggest they want to significantly invest to take us to where a lot are expecting outside of putting equity in on the day to day. Playing Devil’s Advocate, there are a few KSA teams in the Club World Cup next summer. How much would they need to invest in us to get us to that level? What is the point? I've always been of the opinion major investment would be with the carrot of building a winning team. If that path is blocked, then unless there is some genuine upside to spending a huge chunk of cash to finish 6th, would they do that? If they are looking to be associated with a winning side with all the sportswashing benefits that come with it, then they could conceivably sell up and buy a cartel club instead. It's just a matter of money, and they aren't short of it.

Would they be spending a huge chunk to finish 6th or generating a huge chunk given they can't just spend in the way Chelsea and Man City could ? See what happens with the new FMV position, could be a big change, could be cosmetic.
Dr Jinx
The new rules shift the focus from documenting process details to defending outcomes. For a club like us with significant financial resources (top legal/accounting teams), this can be hugely positive as long as we are well prepared for independent oversight and framing a deal in a certain way. Yes, but if we continue to do that, it shows that they are doing something about sponsors, and general income.
54
I find the mentality of "They still have something to prove" really odd tbh, I get that they inherited a shell of a club so there was a lot of easy wins, but they still did it, they still doubled our revenue, and signed a £30m (potentially upwards to £40m) shirt sponsorship etc; and have shown signs to continually do so, hell in the last month alone we've announced partnerships with RedBull and InPost, but people don't seem to take that into account. They've also done it in during a time when restrictions have been in place to specifically to stop us acquiring sponsorship deals. It just seems weird to me.
