McDog
Lovely news for a Friday. Newcastle needs to get a deal that matches the top of the market from a related party immediately. Before any appeals or changes. Edited February 14 by McDog

54
Having read the article, it seems the rules that where created in December 2022 when the takeover first happened, are by all accounts wrong, and should be declared null and void, and the Premier League is now open to being sued for loss of earnings between then and late last year, when the amended rules where introduced. The amended rules still technically remain in effect, but Man City have another legal case for the same reason as the first, with the same panel, and it seems very likely that they will also be deemed null and void. Hence the Premier League being in chaos.

Basically saying that although some rules were deemed to be unlawful it doesn't mean that the entire APT rulebook should be null and void. Though they said that before and now even the amended rules have been found to be unlawful. --- The 18-page final award, seen by Mail Sport, states: ‘In the First Partial Final Award it was declared that the APT Rules and Amended APT Rules were unlawful in three respects. ‘There now arises for decision the question whether those three respects can be severed from the remaining APT Rules so that those remaining APT Rules are valid and enforceable. ‘The three respects in which the APT Rules and Amended APT Rules were unlawful cannot be severed with the result that the APT Rules as a whole are void and unenforceable.’ ---

McDog
Which is it @54 or @JUICE690? They seem at odds.
JUICE690
The bottom of the article reads: WHAT HAPPENED TODAY AND WHAT DOES IT MEAN? The panel returned its final verdict on the first challenge and found that the rules in their entirety were unlawful - effectively agreeing with City. There are various potential ramifications. The verdict effectively means that for three years the Premier League operated an APT system that was null and void. As a result, any club that saw a deal blocked or reduced in value during that period could sue. City will also seek payment of their costs. Combined with the Premier League costs, that figure could total around £20m. The same panel will now rule on the latest APT rules, voted through in November. Should they return a similar verdict, it could open the door for clubs like City and Newcastle to pen significantly higher deals with related parties. It would also pile pressure on the Premier League itself.

Hence the Premier League being in chaos. Will the Premier League then vote through a 3rd set of APT rules which will have to be legally challenged again? As it seems that's why they voted the amended rules through. They could just keep amending the rules until a new legal challenge defeats them.
