I understand to be fair, you might say the time has come for Masters to resign. During his tenure Masters has overseen two new domestic TV deals, one which was sold for the same value as the existing deal without going to tender, the only deal at the time to not increase in value. The second deal has been sold at below the same year to year value (increasing the number of years in the process). A deal which many clubs are unhappy with and are complaining that the Premier League was not receptive of streaming providers. Not to mention that during the pandemic he tried to introduce PPV for games when people had nothing to do or watch, as well as not being able to attend games. A decision he had to go back on only weeks later. 1 club has been docked 10 points for failing to comply with FFP, even though the Premier League themselves had their own accountant sat in the room with the clubs accountants. He brought in Hoffman to prevent the takeover of Newcastle on behalf of 5 of the top 6 clubs. Hoffman was effectively sacked when it failed. He has seen the top 6 attempt to steal control of football in England, of which he was included in discussions of. Just months later the same top 6 also attempted a breakaway for the ESL, of which he did fuck all to try and prevent, even giving them the opportunity to determine their own punishment. He has lost a long standing symbolic sponsorship deal with Nike as the ball supplier to the Premier League. He has seen the Premier League subjected to legal challenges by Ashley, and at the time our prospective owners. He is now on the verge of taking the Premier League to court against the likes of Everton, and Man City respectively. He has allowed Burnley be bought with their own money, only to ban such deals a few months later. He has failed to come to a deal with the EFL over future payment structures, an issue that has been ongoing for years now. He has went into parliament and called certain clubs small clubs. He had failed to implement the automatic offside that the Champions League has, as well as the World Cup, this lead to some disastrous decision, such as the Liverpool no goal. He’s been an absolute fucking disaster and doesn’t have a fucking clue about what he is doing. How the fuck he got the job in the first place is beyond anyone, especially when his record wasn’t said to be clean with the ECB. How he is still in the position is even more baffling. Scotty66
Will never forgot how he acted during our takeover. Was a proper little puppet for the big 6 and dragging things out for as long as possible so he could keep his best pals Levy and co satisfied.. The one good thing Ashley done was throw the legal book at masters and the PL and they couldn't handle it. Man City will have a field day.
timeEd32
I can definitely understand the anger towards him about the new deal ignoring streamers. Peacock paid $110m to get one NFL playoff game this season. It was just announced Amazon is paying more than that to get one next year. Apple and Amazon would have been ready to spend big. Other than that, almost everything else he’s done (or not done) feels like it can be explained by the fact he’s just a puppet for the whims of three or four clubs. The only reason they would have abstained is because a couple of weeks ago they came to an agreement with Sainsbury’s which allows them to build their new stand. They are obviously worried that they now can’t. Edited February 10 by Stifler
