He's very close to ending Longstaffs Newcastle career IMO.

We need to register 4 academy produced players and another 4 UK-grown players in our 25 man squad.

If you reckon we're OK for that without Longstaff then fair enough, but there's good value in just being academy-produced.

(Miley won't count towards any of that as he's U21 and won't take up a squad place)

So despite how much it'll make people's heads explode on here, I reckon the club will try hard to keep Longstaff.

Another reason I was shocked we let Anderson go. Low key would have preferred to lose Willock. Just don't have confidence he will ever be fit enough, long enough.

don’t think we had a choice? Nobody was bidding for Willock and with the PSR deadline fast approaching there were only offers on the table for Anderson & Minteh?

Longstaff made his 200th appearance for Newcastle in the 4-0 win over Leicester City on Saturday. Newcastle have recently triggered a contract extension for the midfielder that runs until June 2026 though this is yet to be officially confirmed by the club.

Not sure what you are seeing.  Seriously, do you think he's class?

Gets the ball under pressure and passes it forward with speed and accuracy. What's not to like?

He’s raw as buggery.  The lad might well develop into a top player but he wasn’t close to it last season - not meant to be a criticism, as he was 16/17 in all fairness.  Hope he does develop, but the last thing he needs is ludicrous expectations from the support - most of these kids do not end up going on to be the second coming.

Basic summary as obviously there is more to his game.

Like ........... I'm being serious here.  There would be nobody more happy than me to see this young un become a regular.  However, what I've seen so far from him is bang average.  It might be me but some people saying he will be a future England player just blow me away.
