Singing Section at SJP - Poll

  1. 1. Would you want a large singing/standing section at St James' Park?

    • Yes. I'm an existing season ticket holder and I would want to be a part of it

    • Yes. I'm an existing season ticket holder but wouldn't want to be part of it, but I would move to a seat somewhere else if the singing section was to be where I currently sit....as long as I was happy with the new seat.

    • No. The atmosphere is fine as it is.

    • No. The atmosphere needs to improve but this isn't the answer.

    • Yes. I'm just a member at the moment but would want one in the singing section.

    • Yes. I'm just a member at the moment but would want a season ticket in a non-singing section. But a singing section needs to happen to let people who want to sing be together

Was a really loud version of the Blaydon Races in the Gallowgate yesterday 2nd half which I was delighted to hear. Agree with what you are saying though.

Aside from that there was a lad in the Gallowgate Upper just behind us with a huge megaphone which he was using to get the chants going! Lasted about 5 mins before the stewards took it off him, then 5 minutes before the end he started again so he either had another one or managed to get that one back [emoji38]

I seen this lad on the way out of the ground, fair do's to him for taking some initiative.

Pity the stewards felt it necessary to stop him? Feels like a word needs to be had with the stewards that unlike Ashley's version of nufc, not every fan will use an instrument like a weapon possibly.

I also seen @Heron I'm sure, getting blocked by stewards trying to get back to the gallowgate before kick off [emoji38]

Pissing on my chips would be putting it way too strongly. But considering how magnificent everything else is about the club, I'd be lying if I said that the flatness of the home atmosphere doesn't irritate me. I've stood amongst some of the most vociferous NUFC support over the last 40 years, and that was generally when the team was utter shit, so to see it so bang average when the club is now the best it has probably ever been is frustrating to me. I know that society has changed and it can never probably be exactly like it was, but there is still room for improvement, and I absolutely know that we can get there too.

So many plaudits in the media about the atmosphere yesterday. Martin Keown raving on Talksport, Gary Neville in commentary (we are ‘ferocious’ apparently). Our own players raving about home support. Think we should accept that we are relatively speaking a good crowd, at worst, and also that the experience of it (as someone who sits where I can get a ticket) differs acoustically depending upon where you are. I’m proud of our fans (particularly away). I think we all should be.

Fair play to them for noticing and keeping up with him. @Heron walks at the speed of sound.

He was fucking sprinting at the time, you'd think he'd just pilfered someone's purse.

By the way, on another note, I thought Man Utd's support was utter shit on Sunday. I really expected them to come up here and rinse us over the cup final but it never happened. They barely made a peep, which is exactly the norm for them when things don't go their way.

Yeah, I was a bit surprised by them as well. Thought they'd be full of themselves and not exactly shy about it but they never really got going.

In a general sense I don't think they have the same variety of songs they used to, say 10 year ago. Which might be why we don't given that every other song we sang use to be nicked from them

The Shearer song and the Andy Cole one and that was it

They sang pretty much none stop until we scored but mainly those two song. They have basically become a banter club/support, only exisiting to try and get a rise out of the opposition fans

Was in Leazes second tier yesterday, plenty of singing where I was aided by a particularly excitable jock next to me.

Leazes east stand corner making a big effort as well

Leazes East corner has been excellent this season.

Probably the same lad who was outside the globe on Baker Street pre cup final, he was using it in club Wembley hospitality before the match anarl got some good chants going.

If it's atmosphere you want, check out the moments after 12:53 on the match cam. Crank up the volume. It's EPIC.  Blaydon Races an aarl. Inject it.

Great to hear the Blaydon Races yesterday first time for ages inside the ground.

Lot of game people dotted around yesterday. Seem more standing towards back of stands.

Only thing i'm abit gutted about is not putting 1800 safe standing in leazes corner. Think 2 sections will sort it right out.

Aye still think that section in NW corner would have been the place, would have been near away fans and got rest of Leazes going hopefully.

Was great in the Gallowgate yesterday.

A lad I work with was in Leazes L4 under their fans and reckons a couple of vapes and coins were chucked. Can anyone confirm?

Wouldn't be surprised. They are the worst set of fans for doing that, utter cowards that they are.
