Kilcline Posted Monday at 18:58 Share Posted Monday at 18:58 Hopefully it's more attended by lads who want to get amongst it and not the "Can we have 5G so we can sit checking our accas and Insta please?" lads

Disco Posted yesterday at 00:24 Share Posted yesterday at 00:24 Controversial perhaps but I’m not sure standing makes that much difference the way the ground/tickets are currently dished out. I’ve stood the last two games up next to the away fans but it’s been not a lot different to sitting elsewhere in the ground bar the usual pockets and I’ve sat near enough everywhere in the last couple of seasons. As Sewelly has posted before it’s 100% about getting groups of mates/like minded types/nutters together in parts of the ground as one. I also think getting fans in earlier and the whole place being a lot less friendly would help but that’s never going to happen given the state of English fandom and the stadium location. What the solution is I don’t know but if we do move ground you’d like to think it might help with it albeit it hasn’t at Spurs but their fans are as shite as their team is currently. Maybe with a new ground they could sell 'block season tickets' for friends and family, that way you apply and be allocated as a group. Too many people sitting on their own. I think by referring to Standing sections most of us are assuming it’d also be an area where singers will be encouraged to congregate, so we replicate Strawberry Corner but in other parts of the ground I’ve stood in the back row of seating blocks at a couple of games recently, was plenty of others standing, but no one was making much noise Get groups of like minded people together in a few official Standing & Singing sections and I’d bet my bile duct that we’d see a massive improvement in noise Edited yesterday at 07:53 by bobbydazzla

Thinking back to when SJP was 36k probably 99% of the crowd was seated and the atmosphere was generally better than it is now. Also, staying in the 1990s, in our first few seasons in the Premier League the majority of our away support actually sat down and we had a better away crowd than we have now. Definitely more about getting like minded people grouped together and take it from there.

Agreed however what I would say is if the club where to say we are adding 3k safe standing to leazes I think you'd get alot of people who complain about the atmosphere wanting to sit there... Tross Posted yesterday at 08:47 Share Posted yesterday at 08:47 The only issue IMO with the standing section is you're still allocated a place to stand. I've said it before but the way they do it in the Bundesliga with no seats I think helps atmosphere massively. If there was a way we could incorporate that into the Gallowgate then we'd be on to a winner I reckon.
Superior Acuña Posted yesterday at 09:04 Share Posted yesterday at 09:04 Can't exactly explain why, but even all other things being equal, I get more into singing if I'm standing. Feels more natural. (Still need some others around me too like)

This would be the absolute dream and the only way of getting the atmosphere back to what it once was.

Aye you can sit on a stool if you’re a lip syncing xfactor / boyband winnit but you need to stand to belt out a tune properly

AyeDubbleYoo
Personally I like to sometimes observe and sometimes get involved, both are important to understanding and enjoying the game for me. I’d be near a standing section and I’d sing most of the time, but I probably wouldn’t want to be in it. Spreading the standing/signing around the ground would create more chances for people on the edges to join in.
