Lou Macari - moaning Manc bellend!

Ha ha aye, GIllespie had Pedro 3-0 I think? Didn't celebrate our 4th!

Ginola was unreal that day - would have been one of the best goals I've seen with the outside of his right from miles out that just went wide!

Didn't Sir Les equal the record for consecutive games scored in - which Isak has just broken?!

Yep, it doesn’t add to the atmosphere if it becomes the atmosphere.

Also has no relation at all to what's going on on the pitch. Fella with the megaphone is facing the crowd.

Exact same for me mate - bedlam it was.

Sure it came out that rumours were that a NUFC fan had stabbed a female Stoke fan (which didn't happen!) and then came the utter chaos!

I’d forgotten about that. Vaguely remember that story now.

Still to this day the worst crowd violence I've ever seen at a football match. Minibuses being tipped onto their side the lot. It was a full scale riot. I drove down with 3 of my mates. Was only 17 at the time and hadn't long past my test.

Got talking to a QPR fan walking back to the car. He'd travelled up from London especially to watch his hero He's Ferdinand play. Next thing we know there's a Stoke fan coming up to us telling us to turn around quickly. Barely got the words out his mouth and a crowd of around 40/50 Stoke fans stood up against a wall just piled into us. The 4 of us ended up getting a police escort back to the car covered in blood [emoji38]

Atmosphere was pure poison right from arriving. I remember winding the window down and asking a group of lasses for directions. "Fuck off you Geordie bastards!" was the response. Couldn't get into any of the pubs so we ended up getting a burger from a burger van. My mate hadn't even taken a bite and a Stoke fan came over and knocked it out his hands. We knew then we were in for a long night!

The most menacing atmosphere inside a football ground I can remember. We were behind the goal and I can still recall loads of Stoke fans in the adjacent Paddock not even watching the game. Just stood there staring at us for the entire game. Didn't help their mood when we beat them 4-0 either. A totally bizarre evening.

Hated them ever since.

Aye was some night 6k plus on a cold dark Wednesday in October and every man for himself before and after the game.

Would love to have seen Adam P and these YouTube goons filming their content outside for that one.

There’s one to debate. If you could have football atmospheres of the 90’s back but no Internet/Newcastle Online which would you choose…

Personally, I'm a big fan of using the internet to mass debate and I couldn't live without it

Watch that Stoke game every year, such lush football, like a bunch of solo performances (everybody did something class) and yet a team performance in one - including one of the best fullback displays you'll ever see from Barton who'd have been man of the match in any game that didn't include an unplayable Beardsley, so you know it was the case.

Agree, not to kill the thread, but atmosphere has gone and none of these ideas will bring it back. Its a cultural and country wide thing (the mackems with their cheap tickets, no glory hunters, different contoured stadium are admitting their atmosphere is the pits) and its generations now since football was for better and worse sanitised and since the hardcore of every club was doubled and watered down.

That hasn't half brought back some memories. Remember it being half term for me and I'd badgered my dad for ages to start going to some of the more local away games (we're in Stockport) and this was the first one he agreed to ;D very lucky it wasnt the last -  as a 12 year old I just found it so exciting absolute electric in the air all evening - now I'm older I would probably be scared shitless mind. They both looked nailed on yellow cards too don't know what they were moaning about. Can remember Ginola pinging some amazing passes right from one wing to the other as well fell even more in love with him that night.

Was at the Wimbledon game before it as well (sat with the away fans who were good craic) when Vinnie Jones ended up in net. What a week that was!

Back on topic I've got a ticket for the Forest game in the safe standing in the corner. First time in there will I be impressed with the atmosphere?

@LFEE anything mentioned in Trust meeting about more standing etc?

I asked the question on behalf of you all and they confirmed every time (monthly) they meet they bring up improving the atmosphere with various ideas so the club is very aware fans want an improvement.

I also had the fortune and by chance to sit beside someone high up at NUFC at a recent game and I told them we should have singing sections in all four corners of the ground so the atmosphere spreads around the ground and encourages those less forthcoming with their vocal support.

Dreadful today. Obviously the performance didn't help, but it was shite from the start.

I decided to do a lot more observing today, I was in Leazes Level 4, first time there. I have come to the conclusion loads of our fans are there because they feel they should be, but they're not bothered about the match at all. Like whatever happens on the pitch doesn't matter, the fact they're "there" is enough.

Within 10 minutes of kick off people were off to the toilet/whatever else they were doing, just pottering around. Everyone laughing and joking, we were playing shite and losing 2-1 and people were streaming out, but not before some high fives, hugs, laughing, felt like I was at a Christmas party, everyone was buzzing.

I'm not saying I'm a superfan or anything, but Newcastle losing depresses me more than it should, it's ruined my weekend, and I'm certainly not in the mood to be having a laugh lie nothings happened.

Appreciate maybe not everyone is like that, and I'm not saying everyone should be calling the samaritans the moment the final whistle goes, but so many people just don't give a fuck. I genuinely don't understand why they go to the match, it's not just the young ones either that go jsut so they can show off they went, it's all ages, especially around me today, nobody cared and the result did not affect their mood one bit.

Maybe I should be more like them and not be bothered, but it's definitely not conducive to a good atmosphere.

Can actually see us losing three home league games in a row when Forest come up here later this month and there'll be some cunts who'll be utterly quiet during the match, will stay back until full time to boo and hurl abuse at the players at the end.

There was a bloke behind me today who did nowt but piss & moan for 90 mins

Never stopped yapping and not one single thing that came out of his cakehole was positive

It was just a relentless torrent of complaints and criticism

Why bother going if you’ve got that much pent up hatred of our own players

Do something fun with your time instead, like zumba or basket weaving

Like I say, at least the boo and hurling abuse shows they care somewhat, misdirected and stupid way to show it of course, but better than people bouncing out of SJP after a shit performance and result as if their lottery numbers have just come up.

Loads who turn up and I think why bother, they clap the attendance as if they've done their job which is cringe as fuck.

Honestly I hope we can just turf loads of fans out and get some "supporters" not spectators together.

Bloke near me leaves at 83 week in week out. 4 lads leave at 32 mins for a pint... honestly it's embarrassing.

Unless we get fans together in leazes and gallowgate nothing will change, the my seat brigade won't be happy of course.

Was in the Leazes safe standing today and it was surprisingly good. The whole black I was in, and all the next block stood the whole game. There was also more singing than normal for a game like that - noticeably better than Wolves, West Ham etc

Yeah, I was in Leazes corner and I could hear singing from all around the ground.

I agree with Doog on the way some people behave though, many people don't seem as bothered about the game as you’d like.

Obviously notice it more when we lose but felt like more than usual today looking happy to take their selfies and dance/sing along to Fender or whatever they're playing at the end while I sit and try to have my 10 minutes inside my own head to stew

Aye, was looking down at the touchline and there were loads of people asking the stewards to take some pictures of them and their mates posing for pictures, scarves held up, wide smile etc.

Appreciate i might be sounding like a right old, miserable bastard here, but come on man, right after we've lost the last thing I'm thinking is "oh shit, let's all get a cracking picture together inside the stadium with our half and half scarves, what an experience".

Fucking hate modern football man.
