They sung 'Marching on Together' about 50 times over, got a bit repetitive.

I thought the atmosphere was alright in the middle of the Gallowgate. We've definitely experienced far worse this season.

Completely unacceptable last night. Just like the away end at Burnley last week was.

I'm glad I sit near the corner so there's always at least some sort of noise near me because the rest of the ground sounds even worse from the posts on here.

Do think that there us a bit of "match fatigue" with us having played twice a week for months now but fucking hell, some people didn't half look miserable to be there last night.

Three people on my row disappeared and said their goodbyes on 71 minutes. I know it's a stupid kick off time and that, but if you know you're going to have to leave that early for a train or something is there really much point in going at all?

Didn't think Leeds were really up to it either, could hear them loud and clear when they were winning but not at all when they weren't.

Leeds were really loud for the vast majority of the game. Their entire end in full voice, mainly singing the old traditional Leeds songs at the correct BPM.

You just can't hear it in the corner. But in the Leazers it was loud and clear all game.

Why has DJ Onedek suddenly decided Freed From Desire is the ultimate post match anthem ?

It's fucking shite, it has no relevance to winning a match, or a player, or NUFC or even the city of Newcastle.

It's just a dogshit 90's cheesehouse tune.

My love has got no money, he's got his strong beliefs

Want more and more, people just want more and more
Freedom and love, what he's looking for
Freed from desire, mind and senses purified

“Freed From Desire” was inspired by the disparities between rich and poor Gala saw in New York and the Senegalese dance community she found in Harlem

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS DAFT CUNT ONEDEK PLAYING AT.

Fair enough. Guess they must have gone into "even-fuller-than-full" voice when they were winning then because I could definitely hear them then.

Think if I'm honest I'm probably falling into the "nostalgia ain't what it used to be" trap but away fans in general just don't seem as loud as they were 15/20 years ago 🤷‍♂️

Tbh why do you even need to play music agter an ending like that?

Just let the stadium's natural euphoria make the noise.

Was same at the mackems last month, soon as the final whistle went there's a dickhead dj trying to make it all about them.

I'm often in the corner so have often had the same opinion as you and almost always leave a game thinking the away fans have been quiet.

It's just that the sound doesn't really carry from L7 to most of the Gallowgate and especially into the corner, so even if the away end is singing all game you only hear them if they're really, really loud.

From GWC the Leed fans were quite loud intermittently, but nothing special.

Atmosphere sounded good on TV.

It did, although, I was spitting feathers when DJ Noncedeck interrupted 'One Kevin Keegan' chant at the start with local hero, poignant moment spoilt.

Aye, GWC is a another spot I regularly frequent and the difference between what you can hear from away fans there compared to in the Leazers is like being at two different stadiums.

The acoustics in SJP are shite because of the mismatched stand heights. A wall of sound from 2-3,000 singers can't come out of L7 Leazers, carry the length of the pitch and then dip down under the Gallowgate roof, that's the nuts and bolts of it.

Even the front of the Gallowgate gets a much reduced volume level compared to what's actually being projected from the away end because they're about a billion metres higher up and the sound floats off on the breeze.

I wonder what it sounds like on the pitch?

Depends where you are on the pitch and that's based on me having sat in the front rows of Milburn, Leazers and Gallowgate recently.

Gallowgate you get the noise from the corner, but not very much from away end.

Leazers with a loud away end means you'd hear more of them than the home support.

Milburn near dug outs was quiet. You're not getting much noise carrying from either the corner or away end. And the Milburn is generally quiet because of all the posh seats so very little noise coming down from the stand.

Exactly that ianw  have to turn at least bits of it back into the sort of place people who don't want to be part of it, don't want to go to

Season tickets for the more refined and cultured types on level 7, open up more of the lower ground to general sale as a result, put the away fans pitchside, stop being so fucking cosy, and I reckon things have a chance of becoming more consistently like the last 15 minutes last night. Can't see it happening like

Fully agree with you. We did used to sing 'Mitros on fire, your defence is terrified' when Mitrović was playing but yeah, why the hell is he playing it at the end of games?

All of this is what the club should do. And I've got no idea why they won't.

Only downside is some complaining from season ticket holders who won't want to move for the greater good and probably some pushback from the polis as they like having the away fans contained in L7, even though PL rules says away fans must be near the pitch and we're one of two clubs breaking those rules https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cg7vn57x7neo

But I say fuck the whinging season tickets and as NWA once said, Fuk Da Polis.

The DJ really peed me off last night [emoji38]

He made a lovely announcement regarding KK and in a beautiful organic moment the crowd began the “There’s only one KK…” chant only for him after about 20 seconds completely blast out Going Home at volume 11 and interrupt it as it was building around the ground:suicide:

As for the game it was a first for me spending 1st half in the Gallowgate then deciding to try the East Stand to change the teams luck for the second half. Night and day is all I can say. Even when there is no singing in the Gallowgate there is usually an atmosphere even if its ooo’s rrrr’s moans groans encouragement… East Stand is deadly quiet with an occasional chat between friends you can pick out quite clearly its that eerily well behaved. I was right on the half way line 8 rows from front (perfect view sadly for Schar likely last touch of the ball ever for us) and the old age of people was very noticeable as was their reaction to having someone more vocal sitting amongst them [emoji38]

Freed from Desire is either (or all of):

1. An attempt to manufacture us towards a "Wissa's on fire" chant, pretty sure the first time it played was when he came on for his debut, whatever game it was.

2. Other shit, plastic nonsense aimed to entertain the occasional visitors/customers at SJP and send them home happy. It seems to be a staple at a lot of grounds, half our away "end" was fucking dancing to it at Stamford Bridge after we got turned over there a few seasons back FFS.

3. "The players like the party atmosphere after a good result" like it was supposedly the players who wanted Local Hero/Blaydon Races switched before KO.

Fucking can't wait for my ears to bleed on Tuesday night to the TOON TOON edition of Thunderstruck, the absolute fucking balloon.

Bizarrely away fans sound much louder outside the ground than in it. The noise they make travels straight over the East Stand and Gallowgate roofs. There's been occasions over the years where we've been getting battered with a few mins to go and I've made an early escape from the Gallowgate. From there even though you can clearly see the away fans singing you can't really hear them. Get past the Strawberry and down towards the old Labour Club and they sound very loud!

Just down to the shite acoustics of SJP.

Enjoy the game needs to go as well man. Fuck that off.

Apparently the camp Bruuuuuuuunooooo is also player led/requested but I'm not sure if I read that on here and have been whoosh'd, someone was taking the piss out of me when they told me, or I've just imagined that in my own head

The East Stand looks like the stand I think Chelsea had in the 90s where they just had a covering with a photo of faces when it was getting redeveloped. No one even fucking moves, you’d have to check them for a pulse under their tartan blankets.
