ozzie1980
I was also in the block right next to the away fans last night - L7J Firstly I thought the atmosphere was very good. However I couldn't believe the amount of Southern Asian/East Asian there. Many with half and half scarves. It was as if the universities got a hundred tickets for their foreign students. All of them seemed to be sitting together, as in not random single seats on their own. I was too busy celebrating the Barnes goal to see how they reacted. Although one East Asian couple were stood smiling, politely clapping. What I did notice was the amount of phone footage taken, especially zooming in on Barca players when they were attacking the Leazes end. One guy in front of me was looking at his snapchat more than the match itself. No singing or reaction to anything going on, on the field. Again I was too pissed off at the penalty and the ref to see who might have celebrated it. Sad state of affairs if this is the way this is going. There are many fans for many years who would have loved to have been there.
Wallsendmag
Think the issue a lot of people have is that NUFC are banning genuine fans (ST holders and members) for passing on their tickets to other NUFC fans yet are happy for away fans to infiltrate home sections with what I'm assuming are tickets from 3rd party sites. It's either that or they're getting them directly from NUFC.
bobbydazzla
4 hours ago, Wallsendmag said: They have to be surely. The chances for your average member to score tickets yesterday was minimal so for so many away fans to be dotted around the ground you'd think they had to have sourced them from 3rd party websites unless loads of Barca fans signed up for memberships and were all very lucky in the ballot as well. Not too many complaints from me as long as they don't try to act themselves, and it appears they didn't. I was at Leverkusen and I reckon we had a good 4k in their end. I managed to get 4 extra tickets in their end myself (sorted a lad out from here with 2) so I'd be a bit of a hypocrite if I complained when the shoe was on the other foot. Edited to say last time we were in the CL we played 3 clubs with worldwide fanbases and lots of hangers on. Very few away fans managed to access the home end for those 3 games so it shows how much easier it is now for them to secure tickets in the home end compared to in the past. A sad indictment of our ticketing system when 1000s of home fans miss out. Non-NUFC fans have exactly the same chance of a ticket as genuine NUFC fans. That's the fundamental problem. That's what's infuriating about NUFC's approach to "membership". Anyone can pay £40 at any point during the season and it's a completely level playing field. It's not a membership scheme, it's a £40 tax. Games with massive demand like Barca and the Makems they should be saying you have to have applied for a sizeable number of ballots (I'd be in favour of a bare minimum of 10, ideally more than that) in order to be eligible. It might not stop the touts but it'd stop the tourists and away fans taking tickets from genuine fans. Edited March 11 by bobbydazzla

They must be right, there's no secret source of tickets that they're accessing? Aye, the tourist-type whoppers are either buying memberships and getting lucky in ballots or paying stupid money on rancid sites. Official NUFC supporters groups can request allocations of tickets and bypass the ballots. NUFC are really tight on controlling these though- names provided to nufc beforehand and serious sanctions for the branch if anyone different to the named individual turns up on the day, even if they are a nufc fan. No chance you'd get Barca fans getting in this way.

Isnt goal music impossible in the VAR era? Do they play a bit of lift music when the decision is pending? Doctor Zaius
The club need to make more of an effort to ban those putting their seat for sale on these reselling websites. That's where these random tourists are getting them from. Was the same for the league stage Barcelona game. We me baulk at the prices but it's water off a ducks back to some. Those touting their tickets are a disgrace. Seen some local cunt bonus balling a ticket for this for £30 a number man. The club had one, half arsed go at trying to buy from these reselling sites and they came back with "the tickets don't actually exist". They do. Old Trafford and Liverpool are dead grounds full of tourists. We seen people at Spurs filming the Arsenal fans with glee. We're heading the same way. Whitley mag
Never going to happen but increase season ticket holder numbers, that would reduce these re-sale tickets straight away. Digital ticketing has been the death knell for PL crowds and actively makes touting easier. Even if you introduce a loyalty points system for members, the bots would still clean up unless the club can get a handle on them. Superior Acuña
A visiting American friend bought me a ticket for PSV off one of those sites cos she wanted us to sit together. I snitched after and sent a screenshot of the ticket to the club. Doubt anything will happen. tbh maybe I could be okay with a small handful of tickets being distributed to ‘tourists’. It’s nice to see people fall in love with the region and want to see a game at SJP, or a bunch of German lads come to see Big Nick etc (while they could…). And I’ve done the same elsewhere. Maybe formalize it somehow and keep it low, maybe restrict which games (eg not derby). I don’t know how it could actually work like - thinking as I type. Disco
There’s something not right like. As I’ve said where I was, in the unsold away end, appalling compared to any other game I’ve been too. Only game that comes close is the other game v Barca but that was in a ST area. it being the proposed match day for next season area doesn’t fill with joy if this is the result. Biggest game in a while and for large portions I had seats either side. Lads fucking off before HT because they were a kip and weren’t arsed in the first place and obvious multiples sitting as one. When we scored the lad next to me who turned up half way through, the first half and the three lads in dodgy leather coats infront, didn’t move a muscle but then didn’t when they scored either. I’ve sat next to people from here there an everywhere but it wasn’t the same at all. But then I’ve done the same in any number of grounds so what do you do? OCOCOL
22 hours ago, deejeck said: Think so. Was upstairs in the Trent House before the match and was speaking to a group of American lads who had come over for the game. One of them told me he paid 600 dollars for a seat in the east stand. He then said to me "I used to support Arsenal, but now I support Chelsea. If I enjoy tonight I might start supporting Newcastle instead though". There was a lad sat on their table in a Liverpool shirt watching the Galatasaray v Liverpool game and it became obvious after a while that he was part of their group so I asked him if he had a ticket for the match and he said yes. I said to him "well, I hope you have a jacket to cover your Liverpool shirt". When I got to my seat the guy in the seat next to me told me straight away that he was a Barca fan. He then spent the whole game filming and taking photos with his phone. I asked him later on where he had got his ticket and he gave me the name of the website, it was something like LiveSportsEvents.com or similar. He left five minutes from the end so missed their equaliser. I’d want to swing for these cunts .. so self unaware

Yep, they despise season ticket holders and what they call "legacy supporters" as they rock up at 2:50pm on a matchday and don't spend £200+ in the club shop every home game. AyeDubbleYoo
One of my work colleagues who supports Arsenal bought a ticket on the afternoon of the game for something like £125 from a reselling site.
