Yankuba Minteh (now playing for Brighton & Hove Albion)

The sad brutal reality is - Brighton are buying him with a mind to selling him for a profit themselves

(they'll be lauded for doing the exact same thing in that event)

They also have the luxury of sitting in mid table and playing all these guys to raise their value.

We are trying to push and challenge at the top. We do not have this luxury.

You are pretty much on the negative side of every argument. I'm not saying you are wrong but surely you must notice of yourself constantly battling on the dark side?

You aren't the only one and certainly not the worst. It's just interesting the way some choose to view the (footballing) world.

I recognize Im probably in this category as well. But I just dont see the evil in saying yea, this was the right move in our current predicament, but that doesn't mean it was prudent management from the get-go

These are all things fairly simple to conclude by thinking people.

[emoji38] Must have been thinking so hard that you missed the premise of my post but you do you man.

ha

cycle of life - we sell promising young player for massive profit to Brighton > Brighton flip a profit on him a couple years down the line > Chelsea sell a casino to themselves everyone's a winner, except football and common sense obviously

How much is the shearer statue worth?

I have no real issue with the deal, more we left it this late to get it done and hopefully comply with PSR. (Reports suggesting we may still be short).

Don't disagree. It's a frustration and I'd like to know how we got here, in order to cast blame in the right direction.

The only thing I will say is that we clearly aren't the only ones. Half the league have been "close" to breaching PSR if we are to believe reports.

I'm sure he's decent, but the fact that only Everton and Brighton in the Premier.League seem to be interested in him isn't really a ringing endorsement.  It suggests he is very raw and perhaps even something of a gamble.

I’m not negative.

This clearly isn’t the worst case scenario. Taking points deductions or selling Isak or someone would’ve been far worse. I’ve said this repeatedly.  One or two have said this is ‘gross mismanagent’ or similar and I’ve disagreed.

But at the same token.  We’ve made a few bad calls and miscalculations. And ultimately we’ve been a bit lucky. If not Minteh, it would’ve had to be Gordon or someone. That’s both a relief and scary.

We don't challenge for Europe next season, isak Gordon and Bruno will be off.

Barnes getting a bit of stick, Tonali, all the shit he's caused, going under the radar. [emoji38]

Not Barnes fault in any way but he was a luxury signing. Gordon barely ever is injured.

Absolutely wild to me the certainty that some posters are talking with when they don't know if/how the coaching staff and board rate him, have probably barely seen him play, don't have a scooby how our finances are actually looking, what if any interest there has been for other players, or what our plans are for the rest of the window.

This is the way.

Without Barnes' contributions this season in his limited appearances we finish nearer midtable and the same people would be hopping mad we didn't sign somebody of his ilk.

Brighton can afford this because they sell players. Its the same soulless shit for them.
