Love the Southampton number 26 on the goal. Completely lets him run off him then points for someone to do something about it when heโ€™s about 10 yards clear ๐Ÿ˜‚

werent exactly competing with anyone for his or Isak's signings.ย

And yet folk in the Mitchell thread would have you think otherwise just cause we lost versus Brighton (or whoever)...

Howe certainly has a good eye for a player obviously not knowing how much input others into identifying them.ย

ย

Main issue with Howe stems from player loyalty wanting Ritchie and dummet kept, giving new contracts out to Mark Gillespie and extensions to Wilson etc (again no inside info how much that's the board wanting to protect their investment keeping these players),ย How many chances will willock/longstaff/miggy get/got.ย

ย

Also thanks to PSR we hoping Mitchell can shop in the cheap gems category while every transfer is a risk Howes best players have come from those around the 40m plus bracket which you would hope is less of a risk not taking anything away from the manager at all.ย

This middle bit is all relative though too. If you cannot get better players in to replace these folk without spending money gambling on improving squad depth from the bottom end not the top then they may have seen that as risks not worth taking.

ย

Each and every one of those folk mentioned would have been model pro's and important to have around the club and at training and that's what is irreplaceable. To some degree they'd help other, better players settle in.

ย

I honestly think folk just go all in on every element of everything as soon as someone is doing good/bad and it goes from 0 to 100 in terms of opinion (not saying you here btw). Around 15 games ago folk on here and in public would have you believing Howe was a mid-table manager and had ran his course ans that none of the signings were his and all that nonsense. Honestly makes me laugh.

ย

Now Isak is comfortably better than Shearer as another example. All just a bit knee-jerk which is inevitable with such passion involved but howay

A smile?? Only smiles when he thinks about his mate at Milan. Worrying.

We will have to agree to disagree at this point dummett has joined Carlisle ffs model pro course he was but he took up a squad place and was offering nothing on the pitch likewise at the stage Ritchie was let go reluctantly neither was he. Howe goes on about small group and squad if you instantly have 5 or 6 players who will never realistically play it's not sustainable if you want to be a side fighting on multiple fronts.ย

ย

The Gillespie lad i will never agree on 10k a week to basically never play be a cone on the practice pitch and be in media stuff is simply not good enough surely a youth keeper would be better placed for that slot.ย

ย

We have a side with a mix of elite and full internationals on the books not sure what the group of canny lads can offer them especially at this stage of the build ( was essential at the take over as we needed to lean on our experienced players to help unify the team).ย  While older players can bring leadership we all at least agree we need to be better at moving players on I for one would like the players who don't play and aren't up to it shipped first.ย

Agreed definitely and by all accounts Ritchie was running drills and warm ups at the start of games so maybe a good coach not a squad player on however much a week taking up a squad place to play under an hour a season.ย

ย

I know all teams carry players who don't realistically play and are squad filler but we right now need more than the 15 players we regularly can call upon on match days that was the case 3 or 4 transfer windows ago and is just as important now.ย

So with the PSR glass ceiling you have the option of spending to replace these folk or bringing in youth players who cannot offer any experience or anything to those in the first 15/16.

ย

Our academy and youth set up is nowhere near of the level of many Premier League clubs that we aspire to be like or better. I can agree on Gillespie, but the others absolutely served their purpose for the overall dressing room and ethics of Eddie Howe and the club as a whole.

ย

We've been down the road of overpaid pre-madonnas before and been relegated. Thankfully Benitez (and Lascelles) made people respect the football club again, as did some of those mentioned. Keeping some of those old heads around as we transition has been imperative to ensuring the right level of respect and application is applied by those joining the club.

ย

By improving on 3 or 4 of those you potentially lose the chance to sign a Tino a Hall or at the top end someone like a Bruno or Botman.

Nope. I never said we overpaid for either.ย

ย

Iโ€™ve been a big Hall fan from day one and wanted him to play more last season. I questioned the logic of buying him last season if Howe wasnโ€™t willing to play him despite an injury crisis after only a couple poor games (halves even). Turns out I was right - Hall is top tier and shouldโ€™ve got more game time when Burn was getting ripped week after week at LB.ย

ย

Tonali - again not a slight on the player. But I questioned ย spending ยฃ50m+ on 1 player + all the other money we spent that window when we were going to need to raise 50m+ to become PSR compliant.
ย

I think now everyone admits that was the wrong approach which is why arenโ€™t doing that this season and Amanda and co. left. We havenโ€™t done a 40m+ deal since. ย  ย If it wasnโ€™t for Minteh having a breakout season we wouldโ€™ve had to sell a purple on the cheap. We overspent they window for sure and ย had no good plan to get out of it.ย

What would his worth be now? Italian International and probably the current best number 6 in the premier league with Rodri out. Maybe Gravenberch or Caicedo would give him a run. 100 mill?ย
