Well then that would definitely solidify that he wasn’t a Howe signing.

Howe was quoted as saying he fell in love with him after watching him. Defo a Howe signing.

Disgusting if Longstaff starts ahead of him Weds.

You really think the club under Amanda went on to spend £55m + high wages on someone that Howe didn't really fancy? And yet Howe went on to start him from the very beginning, something he barely ever does?

Lets act as if managers never ever bench someone they truly wanted to sign, as if that has never happened before and is an impossible scenario.. Cmon.[emoji38]

Puts the first meaningful set piece corner cross we've had in all season and he's still about 5th choice on them

Winds me up no end that he isn't on set pieces more, especially corners. Guess they see him as being more important in the mix but what use is that when fuck all is ever delivered on target.

Anyone know when we last scored from one?

If Tonali becomes as huge for us as I think he will be, I will give creds to Howe for wanting to sign him in the first place. I don't understand how anyone can think Howe didn't want him, that scenario is just completely unrealistic due to several reason. I think Howe was running the show last summer, and also the january before when we got Gordon. We saw in the documentary how much Amanda and the others cared about his opinion on the transfers back then. The Tonali transfer is the most obvious Howe signing of them all (apart from Gordon), because he started him from day one coming from a different league, and unlike many of our other transfers he even stated that it was him who wanted him.

So why not play a player you’ve loved for ages and that cost a kings ransom. Personally I think he was a club signing and the board and  fans have pressured him into playing him over Longstaff. Just my opinion.

All he had done before we signed him was watching him play on television, or at the stadium, or whatever. You think managers never have second thoughts about someone they thought would fit perfectly prior to signing?

This whole thing about judging signings based on random criteria is mental. Happening in every thread

Every thread is a clusterfuck which is only to be expected when we’ve just gone to lowly palace and lost. Lost to a bunch of plodders none of us would dream of putting in a toon shirt like Guehi or Eze.

Will be shocked if he isn't the fall guy for today and Longstaff starts vs Liverpool due to it.

He's not getting dropped after today's performance like. If Longstaff comes back in it will be for Willock most likely, with Joelinton being shifted left to make room for him.
