r0cafella
Gallagher would be such a poor use of our limited resources.
Lotus
I think that the footballing profile of Gallagher is very similar to both Bruno and Sandro. In terms of determination and leadership he’s probably equal to Bruno (can’t say yet for Sandro). If we were losing one of those then Gallagher would be worth considering as a replacement. Conor Gallagher could never replace what Bruno gives us.
The Butcher
Gallagher is closer to Longstaff than Bruno imo.
Holmesy
Gallagher is one of the league's best pressers and consistently covers more ground in PL games than any other player. If we are after him, I suspect that's why. Very underwhelming signing if true, but there will be method to the madness

SUPERTOON
I don’t think we buy a CM this summer unless one leaves. When fit and not banned we are well stocked.
Abacus
The rumours about Gallagher seem too persistent for there not to be something in them. He does seem a good character and, having learnt from doubting Gordon, I'm prepared to wait and see on this one if he comes in. Yes, there are other positions I'd like recruited first, but I'm guessing there are a range of options and combinations we're thinking of depending on where we finish and whether we're in some sort of European football or not. Either way, better than waiting till the last day of the window with no rumours at all and then half-heartedly scuffling about for some sort of loan deal we don't even get, like we used to do. Mattoon
Can only think Gallagher would be a Longstaff upgrade without losing the home grown talent number.
The Butcher
We need more technical players mind. We've enough limited runners. No thank you to Gallagher. Would've been a good signing 12-18 months ago, but not now.
ponsaelius
I'm all aboard wanting MGW like, think he's a good mix of adding technical quality but having the physical profile that is perfect for Howe. Could see him stepping up a level like Gordon has. I'm thinking he'd play wide right rather than in midfield 3, like would have been the case if we'd got Maddison. Geogaddi
I think Gallagher would be a decent squad player, either way he's definitely a significant upgrade on Longstaff.
The College Dropout
I've always maintained Tonali is the Longstaff replacement. We don't have a progressive passer to replace Bruno and Gallagher is not him.
MickMack
There’s no way Gallagher is even an upgrade on longstaff, he seems very much a headless chicken with a first touch like a shot. But if Howe wanted him ….

ponsaelius
Yeah he has been pretty good for Chelsea this season, their best player after Cold Palmer

r0cafella
Chelsea are meant to want 50m for him, paying that for what would be a squad player would obviously be madness. Let’s focus on resources on area we are more in need of.

The homegrown number isn't the problem, we've got a decent number of UK-trained players in the squad, it's the club-developed number that's a problem (if we get into Europe)
KingArthur
We have absolutely no need for Gallagher. No point spending money for him. Edited April 19, 2024 by KingArthur
Kid Icarus
I'd just let go and continue to trust the recruitment team if they were in for him. The lesson should have been learned with Pope and then Gordon on what the team needs I reckon. ie we know nowt
