NUFC Transfer Rumours

Interesting one from Football365. bEIN Jacobs talking to that nugget Goldbridge:

Ben Jacobs, talking to The United Stand, revealed that Newcastle are the only club to make a ‘concrete’ approach for Mbeumo this season – but it explained that it will be a hugely difficult deal to complete in the January window.

Stefanos Tzimas linked according to Crayons Ryder. Summer move though:

Young and highly rated, isn't he?  I'm sure we were linked before as I remember seeing he was on loan at Nurnberg.

I always think you need to be wary of strikers that bag goals in the Bundesliga.  Where they seem allergic to defending properly.  Never mind the second division.

Now that would be awesome if it happens.

His contract runs out in June 2026 - better to make an approach in the summer

But their pathways are shut off potentially. Like who in their right mind who you want joins Chelsea? If they do, red flag and best avoiding (got so many RW options). Then if Salah stays, any new RW will be playing scratch minutes and some cup games, and likely staying that till Salah contract ends.

Chelsea do seem to struggle to convince players to join them.

I think if we get champions league then we can sign really high calibire RW players and they’ll want to come too. Mbuemo would be an awesome signing in the summer.

I think they will start feeling the PSR in the comming years. Leicester are talking about it, Everton and Forrest had point deducted, and more will need to sell their best assets or also face point deduction. Just hope the «rest» will wake up soon.

Nobody else (bar 3 or 4) wants to sustain significant losses though.

The PL is the cartel. The clubs want to rake in the TV money and minimise costs. PSR helps to minimise costs. It's only ever going to be a few clubs at a time that want to invest heavily for a sustained period of time to grow. The more clubs are allowed to invest and grow, the more other clubs have to spend to keep up. The PL doesn't want clubs coming up and doing a Forest, spending £200m on seasoned pro's to keep in the league. That's awful. It makes the other 14 more likely to be relegated.

Not sure why people here hate on Elanga so much. Agree the prices being thrown around for him last summer were a bit mad but he’s a very decent player in the right set up.

Yep. Plus with any player, especially in attacking areas, you have to take into account the 'Howe' (and staff tbf) effect. Take how good he is now, accept that it will likely take at least half a season for them to a regular, but that when they get to that stage there will likely be a marked in improvement on the player they were when they came in.

Using the word hate is a bit strong like. I just think that quite a few don’t rate him highly meanwhile some do.

He isn’t a player that takes us forward, we won’t evolve by signing him. He’s a decent player and the perfect fit for Forest who are mainly about counters and transitions. In general play he doesn’t offer very much. He’s good I straight lines using his pace trying to make things happen.

For me it’s the same reason I don’t think Barnes was the right signing to make as I’ve never thought he’s good enough in general play to play for a top club. Amazing finisher no doubt.

I said before last season that I think we really need more technical ability going forward, to evolve properly. To get better in general play and controlling games more effortlessly with the obvious quality improvements that comes with that as well of course.

Tonali alone makes a massive difference already, and Hall too. We also have Botman back who will add to this even further.

Im sure Elanga will get better but he isn’t suddenly going to evolve into a totally different player when it comes to his profile of player.

He is a very decent player but it’s just funny how that’s worded. Chelsea aside who from the troubled 6 has great options in a fire sale?

I don't hate him.  I just believe that we could, and should, be looking at better players.  They want a lot of money for someone who is a decent Premiership player but I'd really hope that with some decent scouts we'd be able to find someone as good or better for less money.

I just think we basically need one first team upgrade, it should really be someone the next level up.

Elanga is nowhere near 50 million player. I don't get why people are so into him. He doesn't have a good shot, isn't a great creator or dribbler. He is just fast.

Nowhere near the player we need. Wouldn't be a starter for any big 6 team.

I hope we are past this "let's buy 'proven EPL player for 50 million' and not a similar type player from the continent for half the price" -nonsense. Mitchell should do his job.
